But is the assertion that the 'broader palette' I speak of really just a claim? I see evidence of this in shops, supermarkets, pubs, cafes, restaurants all over the UK. Are all the ingredients for 'world cuisine' (by which I mean everywhere, not just continental Europe) as readily available in say, Italy as it is in the UK? If so, it could be said both nations have a similarly broad palette and that could be where the true facts live, somewhere between your opinion and mine.

Just throughout life, Steve. As food is a major passion/topic of discussion for me (and other continentals), you'd be amazed at the amount of people I've discussed this with in the time I've been here. Plus, like you I observe real life behaviour and have come to a different conclusion.

They’re a little over the top with it at times, the yanks love it! Our room has its own sunbeds and access to a lazy river within a few feet. We’d like our own private pool but those rooms come with a butler which we decidedly don’t want. Again the yanks love it, bless ‘em.

Disagree with me, dude, by all means, but don't call me delusional, as it's disrespectful. I've lived in the UK for 61 years and have travelled extensively around Europe, so the opinions I've expressed here are based on experience.

However, I really don't agree with you at all. I am not a massive fan of Italian food. It's just the way it is. I don't really like pizza, I am not a massive fan of pasta or other Italian dishes.

That said, with many examples of different food cultures, when they are done as well as they can be done, everything, and I mean everything, changes.

Top notch pizza and pasta then becomes a whole different ball game. But it is hard to find outside of home cooking. And I'd argue doing pizza well at home requires a serious set up capable of the extremely high wood fired temperatures the best pizza appears to require.

I do hold a certain degree of resentment for people who live in my country and criticise it negatively, which you are doing, for obvious reasons. Have some respect, dude.
