Needed something good to clean my palette after the mostly rubbish music at the show

Oh dear, was it that bad? I detest the 'gee-whizz-bang' music used by some demonstrators to show off their goods.

I can remember years ago when I used to visit audio shows in London, I looked in one room where they were demonstrating some electrostatic speakers. It was empty, but they were playing the sort of music I like. No matter, I had the place to myself and the demonstrator, so we just talked about music and what it was we liked about ESLs. Memorable!

The amount of bad music was probably about the same as it always was. And there was a bit of Bowie, America, Led Zeppelin, David Gilmour, Elton John even.

I'll try to find the most played 'whiz-bang' song played there (KLH, Arke Audio and ATC's new EL50 giants all gave it to us). Because I Shazam'd it TBH I didn't mind it, Martin not so much.

Worst one yet for the music. There seems to be people creating music that's purposely intended for demonstrators to use to impress rubes at shows. Some of it was like someone just randomly hitting the left hand keys on a keyboard synthesiser.

They had your most hated loudspeaker ever there too - Linn Isobariks.

And I confessed to quite liking what they were doing. Though I'm willing to accept that they'd be rubbish with proper music.

To be fair, that Queen Mary track on Tidal would be a pretty good test track (sounds much better on Tidal than the YouTube video) but it is clearly being used to make a system sound good.

Anyway, something which always sounds good…
