Asking price is ludicrous but those tall cabinets are fetching good money on their own and are pretty rare. Wouldn't mind one myself.

Some of my posh friends dad’s had decent stack systems, only one I can remember in any detail was a full Marantz system, would love to be able to go back in time and listen to them again now!
There is definitely something exceedingly cool about (decent) 70’s silver hifi in a tall cabinet, but not at that price!

The reason I look through those listings is I've been looking for a particular mid '80s Akai system the neighbour had but never seen one in all these years. Very few from any of the big Japanese brands ever come up from that period, it's mostly 1990 onwards (if you exclude the cheapo ones). Not sure why that is.

I doubt a mint working example exists, they mostly died just outside their warranty period. Good selection of images with this example, the last one a good close up of what is by far the most valuable component.
