I have the older style wooden shutters that can be opened enough to let light in, but block the majority of the sun on the window.

When it gets really hot here, the shutters stay shut during the day. The house stays cool, but I miss the daylight.

24c already - took dog out at 7am and it was gorgeous but could already feel the warmth growing, 32c predicted here again, but "only" 20c tomorrow.

Awnings over the windows or a covered veranda type thing running round the house - that's what you see in really hot places. And paint the building white.

Not really worth the bother in this country for just a few days each year.

Up to 22.4C in my room now, that's almost half a degree in less than an hour. Will have to get a lot warmer before it starts to bother me though.

Peak today is supposed to be 30C, tomorrow it's 22C - that's some drop off. Probably I'll need to put the heater back on.

Well I'll be glad of the drop in temperature - I'm replacing my mate's garage roof for the next 2 or 3 days. Hot weather and roof work isn't a good combination.

28C outside in the last hour. I don't find that too warm, it's about the same as most days in the Caribbean. Had a stroll into town and back, it was fine.

I would find it too warm if I was replacing a roof though. Or doing anything strenuous.

30.8C outside, 28.6C indoors. Got a bit of a respite earlier, going to Anita's dad's with the air con on.
