Right then, here's mine (currently):

Note that Viva is not included, as it is actually a live album. I know, nobody likes a smartarse I would have placed their debut higher, but I think the production quality is awful, dynamically dead, the album deserves better.

Fair enough - remove 'Viva' and push the rest up a place. I think we are in agreement with 'For your Pleasure' and with their debut album. With the exception of 'Flesh + Blood' which I have on vinyl, all the rest are remastered CDs, so the only track I like on 'Roxy Music' is Virginia Plain, which I believe was not on the original release. Even so 'For Your Pleasure' is so much better.

As we go towards 'Avalon' the output is best described as "Brian Ferry with Roxy Music", as the group appear to take a backing rôle, whereas with the early releases they were more creative: "Roxy Music with Brian Ferry".

I'm still on my own regarding 'Flesh + Blood', so it's a case of Barry contra mundam!

Pink Martini - Sympathique (1997)



I'd forgotten how enjoyable this group are, hard to categorise, "Group members call it a little orchestra that crosses several styles, such as classical, Latin, traditional pop, and jazz."

I absolutely loved this album when it first came out. I'd just got my first company car which I inherited from someone who left - a Rover 216 GTi 3dr, which the previous "owner" had fitted a Kenwood stereo with 6 disc CD changer in the boot - I'm pretty sure this disc never left it, until some toerag smashed the window and stole the whole system including my CDs. That car was great, even had a "car phone" installed, drove it like I stole it until I moved to my current employer and had to suffer a Ford Mondeo TD LX. Not sure company cars are much of a thing anymore, unless you get an EV because of the tax.
