Compilation albums are often frowned upon by purists, but I like them as they often include only the best of an artist's output. Not so in this case, I have all their early work on LP (up to and including 'Exile on Main Street'), but played this CD for up to 40 minutes of uninterrupted Stones, whilst cooking tonight's dinner.

I think I said to you a while ago that I'm not keen on compilations, then when I checked it turns out I have dozens of them Including the above one which covers up to 1971, then "Rewind" which goes from 1971 to 1984.

I was about six and in those days children were seen and not heard. You just had to wait quietly until they finished their chit chat. I did notice that my mother and nan treated her with unusual deference, it was only later I found out who she was.

Just back from my step-mother-in-law's (is that even a thing?) funeral. Shew was very witty - and the choice of the music for her committal was from this album - "Can't you hear me knocking"
