I don't see a problem with modifying recipes using ingredients not traditionally used if it makes the meal more enjoyable, it's completely subjective imo. The only exception being pineapple in savoury meals, that's just wrong.

Might think about doing a stir fry or a chili at some point.

What about in sweet and sour pork? That's sort of both and has pineapple. Or on a gammon steak?

Don't like sweet and sour, and for me it's got to be an egg on the gammon. Nothing against pineapple as a proper pudding, nice with Carnation milk on.

Agreed - always an egg on my gammon, never pineapple.

I'm more ambivalent when it comes to sweet and sour sauce. I have enjoyed it in China, but then you would assume they know what they are doing. The same with duck á l'orange, or duck with plum sauce.

There's some artistic licence, but at a minimum a risotto uses short grain rice, that's the whole dish, the creaminess.

Hiccups - what are your cures, "reverse drinking from a glass" (usually my "got to") and a "surprise" (how do you surprise yourself?) not working!

All sorted, daughter heard my hiccups from upstairs, came down, scared the crap out of me with a "boo" and hiccups are gone. Unfortunately I shat myself, so new problem - but a spoon and a sponge will resolve that so no drama.

I can't remember the last time I had hiccups (if I ever did?)

Seriously? Too much information there Alex, which I think I would have kept to myself!
