We had a few fireworks on Halloween night. Much prefer that than to 'trick or treat'.

I had trick or treaters knocking on, first time that's happened in about 18 years. Didn't answer the door and they eventually pissed off. Back to America, hopefully.

We put a basket of sweets out and a sign saying "Happy Halloween, please take a treat but don't knock as we have a new puppy". It worked. I'll be getting a new puppy/baby/kitten/ostrich around this time every year from now on!

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress at this period in history.

Uh? Is that a collection of one-liners from a Monty Python film?
