In 1990:
730ES tuner was £300
X77ES CD player was £1300
Multiply by 2.5 to get it in today's money. Would have been an expensive stack.
Note that 'ES' models intended for the UK did not have the wooden end cheeks. No idea why that was.
Yeah, the Japs are funny about stuff like that. Expensive, yes, but I'd have thought more so... I reckon that the pre and power amp would be killer.
I also thought it was my CDP in there, which is an X-777ES, not an X-77ES, unless that was a typo?

There was both an X777ES as well as an X77ES. The 777s fetch more on the used market than do the 77s.Quote:

Was at Cranage this year (First time as a punter lol) and listened to this in the Radford room with a pair of M100's and RFC Rubato standmounts. Still trying to figure out how those floorstanders produced the bass they were. Amazing stuff, and one of the best sounds of the show for me, just a great sound.
