Old Creek tuners seem to be very well regarded by many people but in my humble opinion they are very overrated. I had an old Creek a few years ago and found it very coloured (but pleasant) sounding. Like most British tuners they are simple, crude designs with poor sensitivity & selectivity specs. I'd rather use a good vintage 1970's mid-range Japanese tuner such as Sansui TU-517, Trio KT-7500 or Pioneer TX-9500 - try one of those an you'll soon realise the limitations of your Creek. Expect to pay around £90 to £150 for the Sansui or Pioneer and just £40 to £60 for the Trio (a real bargain!).Quote:

TC-366 has permalloy heads which wear and may not now be replacable. I had one for years and replaced it with a TC377 which got left behind at my last job. It's long gone now - a Nak cassette deck creamed it anyway..
33/405-1 for less than £140 - bloody 'ell, you have some luck Andre, especially when Dada can supply new mk2+ boards and supply caps for it, including new speaker sockets and reduced or no limiting to muck things up..
I tried my "new" late production (well over 100***) 33 last weekend and was impressed with it at first until the penny dropped that the sound was all superficial. All the little musical cues so easily reproduced through the AVI and Croft were either diluted or missing. Dada do a refurb kit which replaces all the electrolytics and raises the rail voltage to 16V. Does anyone have experience of this? I doubt I'll go the Net Audio route as the 33 wasn't ever intended for a main system, but a cap overhaul seems a good idea, although the electrolytics look fine.

EmporiumShed have been trading a good while and have been a pretty good if expensive source of old gear.. I haven't ever dealt with them though, but I know people who have and I think they're ok.
So how much did the Accuphase tuner sell for ? What was the BIN on it ? and how come I didn't see it listed ? I look through the tuner section 4 times a day and the transformers section where tuners are listed as well....
Someone do me a favour, if you see an Accuphase tuner listed PM me please. That would just put the finishing touch to my tuner review stock.
