Well the Mike New platter is about the two metals bonded together to damp the aluminium platter & it appears to do what it says on the tin ;)
Lead would be at least as effective as annealed copper (I'd have thought) as it doesn't need annealing to soften it.
I have a fair sized roll of lead that will be used in speakers, if there is some left over i might have a play with a lead mat at some stage :eyebrows:

That's what I so too. Not sure you win more often doing it that way, but it removes the temptation to up your bid if you get out bid.
I use Goofbay. It means you have to give them your ebay details, but I've never had a problem with it. It means I can put my bid in days in advance and forget about it.

It just happens that I have spare drawer bits on my dead vrds 9. A new, non-original, remote would have cost me £30. So I'm happy with the deal.
The plan now is to use one vrds 7 as a benchmark for upgrades on the other.
Just hoping my snipe on some interconnects works this week and that might see the end of my spending for this year. Apart from some upgrade bit's for the cdp that is. And maybe an arm for the new Teccy. And maybe a cartridge. Mmmm.......
