The Pioneer PD-91 was a superb machine. I loved mine and it lasted a good few years in my system. Wish I hadn't sold it, in fact.

I think it is "only" about 3,000 - and I bought my first CD player in '91 - (for home/personal use) - so it isn't as bad as it sounds... An average of 150 per year, 12 a month, or 3 a week... Ok, so maybe that is bad! :lol:

This is the Magic Eraser set into some dendro-bling to justify a price of £40.
You can buy enough Magic Eraser to last you several lifetimes for about £3. Slice a bit off, stick it to a 2p piece & yer away.
I bought some about 5 years ago & I'm still on my first 1.5" sq piece

Missed the delivery yesterday but collected it today - in great condition, everything seems to work and after a couple of tracks doesn't sound half bad at all. Unsurprisingly, it is not as good as the Marantz/Caiman combo, but the difference isn't embarrassing for the old Pioneer...

Will be interesting to see if it works well with the Cambridge P50 amp and RAM 150 speakers as my 'CAC' system...

What was the Techy CDP again which was designed to partner the SL-1210? It was a massive thing, that looked like no other CDP, and which I believe was also used for broadcasting purposes?

I think David Price reviewed it once in HFW. It also had one of those 'Jog-Shuttle' dial thingies...

I'd love one of those, as I reckon with some judicious tweaking from Audiocom, it would sound fab! :)

'SL-P1200'/'SL-P1300'

The one i have pictured above has the shuttle control. If these machines carry the DAC chips i think they do there is an up to date drop in replacement available

Yep, sure does. That's what reminded me of the 'SL-P1200'.

I reckon the SL-P1200 would be a phenomenal sounding machine, and I love the looks! See if you can find a nice piccy of one for me - gotta pop out for a bit :)

Coolio, dude... It's just personal taste.

I love how it doesn't look anything like a normal CDP. I love the shape of it, and the fact it looks like something you'd more likely find in a broadcasting studio, than in a home hi-fi system :)

The 'SL-P1300' had XLR balanced outputs..Thats the one probably used in studio enviroment..The 'SL-P50P' that Alex just pictured i prefer

My old pre amp is up for sale on eBay , its so good to see it again and in pretty much the same condition as i left it in , must admit i would love to buy it back again , i know its the same one from looking at the elma switches and panasonic pot + the internal wring and earthing ,all carried out by my mate Darrell , who was an approved Concordant agent/dealer !

Its a brilliant pre ! Designed by the late great Doug Dunlop :)

It will need a service though as those caps are 21 years old , Doug put it together in July 1990.

Made it a bit of a mission to get myself a pair of Wharfedale Diamond IV's dirt cheap, having read in various places they are a bit of a "giant killer" - £8.09 is cheap enough to find out! (Took me about 18 months of trying to get some close enough and this cheap though!)

Those are the babies to have, which are musically addictive in a way that all other Diamonds which deviate from the original design (and drivers used) aren't.

However, what you've bagged will still be a fun little pair of speakers, at a stupid price, so enjoy! :cool:

Must disagree about 'all other Diamonds' as my partner Ruth's Diamond 10.1s are absolutely stonking speakers for their size.

I came home from my local car boot sale with a Technics SL-7 yesterday (£7 :)) and this finally tipped the lovely and normally placid Mrs. B into meltdown.

The phrase I heard loudest in the middle of her rant was "If you don't get rid of some of this crap soon, I'm going to start picking items at random and taking them to the dump on my way to work".

Luckily the really good stuff is too heavy for her to lift, but I think it's time to start disposing of a few things!
