Fully refreshed after a bad night's sleep & a day at work, I bring to you for your delight & delectation, this week's 'From The Grave'!!
It was a comment about someone's avatar earlier today that made me think of sprinkling some thread revitaliser on this one.
It was started by some geezer ugly going by the name of Whizz Who? or something. Should've be a sticky, I reckon.

OK folks here's another shameless plug for the Art of Sound Library - I'm using this as an excuse to remind folks that it's there and that the invitation is still there for ideas for articles and also for anyone to make a contribution with the help (if required) of one of us.
Let's see your ideas. If you want to discuss something away from the public view, then PM Nick or I (Barry's a bit busy at the mo')

We've had a load of new members joining since this thread fizzled out, so I'm sure this will be a great chance to flush out the stories of some members hi-fi history - always fascinating.
July 2009 was when Steve (Twelvebears) set this one off - Thread No. 3420:

Hiya folks!
It's time to rake over the Art of Sound coals again. I spent some time this morning looking for a good 'un for you to read. This isn't going to knock Harry Potter off the best seller lists, but it's certainly worth reading and acting upon.
I don't care who you are, what you system is or how jaded a hi-fi casualty you are. Please read this and do the obvious thing - check your own system for yourself.
Let's see how many people are big enough to own up that they've made a mistake!!!!
If this all sounds a bit cryptic, then I suppose you should read the thread.
In March 2009 Smudge314 posted his first and last thread. We never learnt his real name & we haven't heard from Senor Smudge since his 3 posts here, but maybe his short tenure here will help some of us out in some small way.
He was having a spot of bother, so he called out for assistance:
Help! playing Beatles records

Well, it was a lot less work to get this week's thread sorted than it was last week. That turned into a discussion of something completely different & there didn't appear to be too much interest in what the stats were saying, so I may not bother with the effort of gathering all that stuff into one place again.
We'll see.
Anyway, for this week, we've got something about sitting heavy stuff on top of your boxes. Any opinions anyone?

This week I've chosen something that follows the theme of last week's From The Grave - this thread should've been a contender but it drifted off elsewhere. I reckon we've all got a tale to tell about putting together a really cheap system that somehow seemed to gel much more than it has any right to. What do you think?
