I have quite a bit of Zappa's output, and as you know, Zappa went through various musical tropes throughout his career. 'Chunga's Revenge' is broadly similar to 'Hot Rats' (a record which, IMHO, ought to be in everyone's collection) and 'Waka Jawaka'.
IMHO too :) I did used to have Freak Out, Absolutely Free and We're only in it for the Money (which were all Zappa/Mothers iirc) and liked them all. But that was the early 70s and I've not heard them since then. I'm not sure what I'd make of them these days, though I'm tempted to give them a go. So little time, so much Zappa :)Quote:

In 1973 Are You Experienced and Axis: Bold as Love were put together and that's the version I have. Been a few years since this came off the shelf, as last time I tried it the 'Experienced' disc was so warped the cartridge thought it was on a roller coaster. Turns out the 'Axis' disc is fine, perfect even, with not even any crackles. So that's what I'm playing.
Sacrilegious as it may sound, I don’t have any Hendrix studio albums, just a compilation, but I do have Tidal so giving Axis a go now. [emoji846]
