Little known but fabulous Hitachi HB-320 speakers in Wales.
The drive units in these are of fantastic quality, similar to what JBL were turning out back in the seventies. The hefty horn pressure driver is a work of art and the bass unit is superb (it may have had new surrounds, the originals were pleated). If they were a bit nearer to me I'd keep quiet and buy them. At £30 it's an absolute steal! The tweeters alone would cost £500 a pair if they were still made.

Very rare 'The Advent Speaker'. US made early true acoustic suspension speaker, possibly even the first of its type. This is a landmark product, it even predates the famous AR3 if I'm not mistaken. I've not heard this model, but it is reputed to be extremely good.

Maplins (on eBay) are selling speaker terminal plates which are indentical apart from gold plating on one type and not on the other. The basic version has a £1.99 quoted postage and the gold plated option costs £2.99 postage. Work that out? Surely a couple of microgrammes of gold can't make that much difference.
Oh, and they don't offer combined (reduced) postage if you buy multiples, that's a bit cheeky.

They were complete rubbish! Look at the 'bass' units, they are not original. The replacements are cheap, nasty, full range drivers. Not a speaker I'd touch even in good condition. The tweeters were not known for their durability. Wharfedale speakers were going through a bad patch in the eighties, the speakers were pretty poorly put together.Quote:
