I wasn't sure if there is any etiquette regarding watches for going shooting, so i decided a watch that's so slim and light that it's hardly a watch at all, when you just want to be able to tell the time.

I bought it new from Swatch (too many fakes about to go secondhand) and was really excited, until it arrived! It looks lovely in the pictures, but in reality the “Bioceramic” case just feels like plastic, and whilst the strap is a nod to the moon watch, I felt it looked tacky, so I swapped it out to…. A black leather strap, of course!

I'm not a watch person myself, however I do have my fathers RAF flying watch which is an Omega (he was a pilot). It just about runs, but to my knowledge has never been serviced. I don't wear it but I would like to.
Can you guys recommend where I might get this serviced?

Haven’t got a Steeldive yet, did pick up an Addiesdive, but that’s a formal one, not a diver.
Been doing DIY today so the bashed up Suunto (with cheap replacement strap) - learned my lesson yesterday when I sanded the bracelet on the Pepsi Invicta!

Steeldive bracelets are shit, the ones I have left are all on rubber straps. Best bargain SD is the 1970 (Seiko Willard homage) but not the green one, bezel colour doesn’t match the dial in any way shape or form.
I’m not that keen on the Willard shape, so haven’t got one - but then I was never that keen on dive watches at all and now have about 10! So never say never….

Thanks Roy, that sounds like the best advice, go direct to the source - I'm not worried about the cost, it's priceless to me. Without going into too much detail, my Dad was wearing the watch when he flew a very risky mission in the Radfan, South Yemen at night. Whilst under fire he landed in the desert on a make shift airstrip, light by oil fires put out by the SAS. He recovered the bodies of some military personnel who were tortured and killed and flew them back to the UK - he got a commendation from HRH for that, but never talked about it. A “service” on a mechanical watch is a quite remarkable process - essentially the entire movement is taken apart, cleaned, checked and any worn parts replaced or repaired and then put back together with all the proper oils and tolerances. One I got off eBay after making a cheeky £60 bid and never expecting to win. “Seiko Mod” NH35 movement, “Deep Purple Edition” Submariner style one-off “BP Watch Co” creation.
I loved the colour but never thought I would actually wear it but it’s turned into one of my favourites, also came with a purple rubber strap but thought that was a bit overkill so it’s stayed on the Jubilee, which is a really solid bracelet with on the fly micro adjustment.
I love it, suspect I’m in the minority!

That was my light bulb moment . . . I used to have a nice TAG I bought second hand from a friend. Had it a few years before taking it to Ernest Jones in Poole for a service, must have been about 15 or 20 years ago and it cost me £180.00.
