Magnificent swearing in, was it not.
It's a new TRiUMPhant season for America. When due the military tribunals begin? Waiting eagerly.
While I work on maximizing all the "joy" Mamala Harris and the deep state wanted us to focus on, I extend a warm, well wish to all...yeah, except those who worked in nefarious ways to undermine my country, my government and my liberty, especially over the past four years. May there be no rock for them to hide under. (Biggest mistake...crimes against children.)

I know how this looks,
but hey, who HASN’T accidently done a Seig Heil first day in Government?
Musk knew exactly what he was doing. Twice.
He endorsed the far right wing German party AFD saying,
"Only AfD can save Germany, end of story,"
I wonder who he'll sack first.
This guy
Vivek Ramaswamy

Was supposed to be running “DOGE” Governmental Efficiency department along with Musk, was given the bump by Trump just before he was swore in.
Now Musk will be running a US Government department that directly impacts VA Benefits, Medicare, Education, Social Programs and the like.
No hand on the Bible
Is this ok?

I must admit to having some sympathy with the main thrust of the AFD's cause. Immigration from countries with radically different cultures to our own liberal way of life is causing serious strife in parts of Europe, not to mention our own UK. Multi-culturalism was a grave error of the most epic proportions, only now are European elites waking up to that. If the mainstream parties don't deal with that, then someone else will. Thing is for me, I tend not to align with parties like Reform UK, being the dog end of trad right wing politics, which long ago wore itself out.

The people living in the UK around 2400 BC could have said the same things about the immigrants coming from North Continental Europe, later followed by the Vikings, Normans and Anglo-Saxons who are the ancestors of most British. They did not have the same culture or belief either.
All our ancestors were immigrants at some point! Even more in the New World, America, which was built by immigrants, including Trump’s family. How pathetic!
1,000 years from now, who would care about todays immigrants?

Indeed, would you have welcomed the Viking invasion if you'd have been around?

The expressions and rolled eyes say it all.
That Bishop was brave, her speech to Trump was an (especially) needed reminder of how we should treat one another.
but why did this seem such a brave thing to say, and why was it even neccessary?
'In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.'
What has the American Government became that a bishop has to beg for mercy from an incoming President, as people are scared?
ALTERNATIVE TAKE:
"Echoing the teachings of Jesus and calling out Trump's cruelty, ignorance, and bigotry to his face,
Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde delivers a sermon for the ages.
Bishop Budde stared down authoritarian fascism and said 'Not today, motherfucker."
Trump was asked by the Press afterwards what he thought of the Service...

Depends as most Vikings installed in the UK were not violents and embraced the opportunity being in the UK.
This is the case of the majority of immigrants today.

You should be very careful about what you publish on line as people may see it and report it. Those people exist, I've met some, and they are evangelical. Back on topic Trump has surrounded himself by China hawks, America was already on the path for conflict with China in the 'pivot to Asia' https://foreignpolicy.com/2011/10/11/americas-pacific-century/. It will only take the slightest provocation by China for Trump to take it personally, and as prophesied in 'Dr Strangelove', he'll be riding that ICBM to China before you can say 'I told you so'.

Afghanistan was a botch right from the start, by the time it fell into Trump's lap there wasn't anything more that could be done except pull out and write the whole thing down to experience. Just like the British did three times previously.
Those who forget the mistakes of history are condemned to repeat them.
Plenty on line about it if you want to read up. Like the hydro-electric dam they spent millions on without considering they'd also need to build a cable network across the entire country to actually get the power to anyone.

The BBC Adam Curtis film 'Bitter Lake' is a good intro to the post WW2 20th C Western involvement in Afghanistan, the incompetence would be funny it wasn't so tragic, the Brits played their role, which Smith parodies by cutting to a Carry on film, 'Carry on up the Khyber' I believe. The whole lot, the NGOs out to make a quick buck, the British army - absolutely fucking clueless in pursuing the Taliban, relying on word of mouth, and Karzai's regime - corrupt to the core.

The rebuttals of some of his supposed lies are a bit weak e.g
Trump said: “American ships are being severely overcharged and not treated fairly in any way, shape or form, and that includes the United States navy. And, above all, China is operating the Panama Canal.” Officials in Panama have denied Trump’s claims that China is operating the canal and that the US is being overcharged.
Panama denies it! Case closed. Hardly going to confirm it, are they? Even if it's true.
There's no presentation of any evidence to back up the assertion that he's lying. Now if there was, it would be a much better article.

I suppose it’s a simple matter of choosing who you think is lying. Trump or the journalist, David Smith. Both accounts can be tested if it’s worth the bother.

My point is the journalist needs to do a proper job - investigate, and present evidence. Not just say stuff. That's not journalism. It's no different to what Trump does. Which is why he's back in again.

Quite so, and if you go into the long, complicated and protracted negotiations between the US and Columbia (originally) and later with Panama, you will understand that Trump misunderstands the final ratified agreement of ownership of the canal and of the former Canal Zone.
China comes into it because they are the second largest user of the canal, and because they have taken up a 25yr lease to operate two ports; one at each and of the canal. Trump is clearly concerned the influence China might have on Panama.Panama was one of the first to sign up China's Belt and Road initiative.

What's worrying is the level of deception that Trump peddles in. It reminds one of the Russian playbook, 'we lie, and we know that you know we're lying'. If that's the way America is heading then hold tight.
Trump has imposed sanctions on Colombia for refusing to take US immigrants his ICE department has round up (few hundred a day now, and looking to meet “Quota” of over 1000 per day.)
In response to these sanctions,
If this sticks,
Colombia has imposed 50% Tariffs on US imports.
Coffee prices in the US are going to shoot up because of this.
Way Tariffs work is it’s the US Taxpayer that will foot the bill, not the other Country.
Canada too has been threatened by Trump?
Canada has warned they will cut off electricity they supply to the States (a LOT including for New York State) in response.
America will have no allies left if Trump keeps up these hissy fit Tariffs and trying to bully other Sovreign nations.
And Greenland?
His new Mook heading up the Pentagon, Hegseth, has said “all options are on the table” with regard to securing Greenland for the US.
Including Milliatary.
Hope someone tells him Denmark owns Greenland, has done for over 800 years, and that they are a NATO member.
Trumps gonna get Military with a NATO country?
Sure that won’t cause any issues…
So much for trust based alliances between countries.

Trump has put a 90 day freeze on ALL Federal funding, pending review, the incoming Whitehouse press Secretary stating:
"I think this is a very reasonable measure," she said on Tuesday, adding that the pause would allow the government to weed out spending for "woke" gender issues and diversity programmes that conflict with Trump's executive orders.
As written in the US Constitution,
The separate branches of Government, its Seperation of powers is to stop one person deciding how the US Budget is spent, to avoid bias and discrimination.
The Legislative Branch of Government, I.e. Congress holds the US purse strings, NOT the Executive Branch, i.e. Trump.
Trumps actions are Illegal and unconstitutional and will harm children and elderly Americans who rely on this program funding, even for basics like food assistance and Medicare.
Even online access Portals for Federal Assistance have been shut down, and Executive Orders have been signed to halt all interdepartmental information between Health Authorities and sharing information externally.
The CDC, for example, has been barred from releasing medical imformation and guidance to the American public.
If you want to get into the nitty gritty, this is a good summary:
https://youtu.be/m0sL6juSl_E?si=13tAo8UwJjLBrbiY
This goes beyond Politics and will affect both Democrats and Republican people.
Madness!
Starting to feel like cruelty is the point here…
Buckle up America,
Trump is acting like he’s a King - a Mad one.

Typical playbook of dictators: people telling the truth are lying to you while the flows of lies regurgitated from them are of course true!
The latest from his master puppeteer Trump: the recent plane crash is due to DEI, non white, pushed under previous administrations (not his!), without an ounce of evidences & this must be ‘common sense’.
First President with so little empathy for families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy!

Tariffs of 25% on Mexican and Canadian goods, 10% on Chinese, surely inflation in America will now get even worse? The question is why, punishment? I can see Trump's reasoning for Mexico and China, but Canada? Cessation of much (though not all of course) US aid abroad, these are big, disruptive steps, and he's just getting started.

DOGE = Department of Government Efficiency
DOGE = Completely Made up concept by Trump, with no legal authority to do what its doing
Despite the name,
DOGE is not a federal executive department, the creation of which would require the approval of the U.S. Congress.
So it has no legal authority to be doing what its doing, as its not been confirmed by Congress.
Trump just willed it into Life and assigned an unelected member of the Public (Musk) to run it.
Its not L E G A L and is Unconstitutional.
But they are acting like they can do what they want... anyway.
That appears to be Trump's modus operandi: just keep everyone in a state of confusion so as to buy you time to think of a way out of the problem.

Let's think about this for a moment.
So far, going back months, all of your vitriolic pontification has amounted to...nothing.
With the approval of the majority of actual US citizens,
Donald Trump IS, once again, the POTUS.
Pete Hegseth IS Secretary of Defense.
Tom Homan IS deporting illegal aliens.
DEI IS being deleted from the governmental landscape, etc. etc. etc.
At this point, your losses are wider than the legs of an ugly OnlyFans model.
...and DOGE still = Department of Government Effeciency
You can spend your energy being, well, "you" about it or perhaps not.

Some facts
1. DOGE has no authority under the Constitution.
2. Trump has no authority (as Executive Branch) to create it.
It needs to be approved by Congress, and it hasn’t.
This was by Design by the Authors of the Constitution. Wonder why?
3. Can call Anything by any name, doesn’t make it legal.
4. Trump has a proven record of being a convicted Con Man in Business and convicted Felon in his personal life.
So... given all that, Here's just a personal opinion
Trump is a Bully
It's what he does and who he is.
And what do you do to bully's?
You stand up to them.
Watch Canada and Mexico and China do so.
Tariffs are indeed coming
Trump has threatened Tariffs on the EU too as they “Have treated us very badly over Trade”
(EU hasn’t, in fact the opposite)
Who do You think PAYS for these proposed Tariffs?
HINT: You ain’t going to like how all this might turn out.
Here’s Canada’s Justin Treadeu explaining it.

See the difference in what a good Leader is?
Trump does not know or perhaps care about consequences of what he’s doing.
Given pushback from other Country's, I predict Trump will back off.
A long read ideal for a Sunday but might give an idea of the Republican syche and that of a distant Republican relative in Georgia, female and a great grandmother in her late 70's
BUT not my opinion I hasten to add
My position on Donald Trump:
Make no mistake ... I'm not posting this for debate. I don’t seek or need commentary. It's okay if you don't agree because we are all entitled to our own opinions and you can keep scrolling.
Just consider this ... when you think the President is a jerk; he is. He’s a New Yorker ... a QUEENS New Yorker. He’s crude and can be rude. He gets his feelings hurt and he’s a hothead. He hits back - harder. He's made mistakes morally, personally, and professionally - who hasn't?!?
He's done things I don't agree with - all politicians have and still do.
The media hates it when he tweets. Why? Because he goes around the mainstream media and gets information out that they don’t want to report.
Let me tell you what else:
He is a guy who demands performance. If you don't work as hard as he does, you're fired!
He is a guy who asks lots of questions. The questions he asks aren’t cloaked in fancy “political” phrases ... they are “why the hell ...” questions.
He doesn't structure his phrases so that anyone can misconstrue or misinterpret what he says.
He is abrupt and to the point ... how many of us are the same way every day?
He is both harsh and kind ... most disciplinarians are.
For decades the health industry has thrown away billions of face masks after one use. Trump asks, “Why the hell are we throwing them away? Why not sterilize them and use them numerous times?” They called him stupid. But what are they doing now? Sterilizing face masks.
He’s the guy who gets hospital ships readied in one week when it would have taken bureaucrats weeks or months to get it done.
He’s the guy who gets temporary hospitals built in three days. They said there was no way he could do it.
He’s the guy who gets auto industries to restructure to build ventilators in a business that’s highly regulated by agencies that move like sloths.
He’s the guy who asks, “Why aren’t we using drugs that might work on people who are dying; what the hell do we have to lose?”
He’s the guy who restricted travel from China when the Democrats and liberal media were screaming “xenophobia” and “racist” ... now they’re wanting to know why he didn't react sooner.
He’s the guy who campaigned on securing the border - protecting America - in the face of screaming Democrats and the liberal media. (Both Clinton and Obama talked about a crisis at the border and Obama did some things to address the crisis, but they all proved to be insufficient.)
When Trump shut down borders in the midst of the coronavirus virus, they screamed louder. Then the rest of the world followed suit, including the European Union with travel between their member countries.
His policy is always 'America First.' For many years we have complained about sending billions abroad while Americans suffer here. He's minimized that outflow of money.
Has he made mistakes? Yes.
Everyone I know has and does.
The “experts” wouldn’t and haven’t done any better.
Does he change his mind? Yes, who doesn't?
Trump is working harder than I’ve ever seen a President work ... twenty-four-hour days
.. even when they complain that he takes vacations, he's at Mar-a-Lago ... working.
He isn’t hiding in his office ... he’s out front - briefing, answering countless, nonstop questions - every day.
When Trump offers hope, they say he’s lying; and when he’s straight forward, they say he should be hopeful. It’s a no-win situation with the mainstream media and left-wing liberals, but he will not be deterred.
And when the mainstream and social media gaslight with "soundbites," look at the whole context ... it's almost always a completely different picture than what's being painted.
I’ll take this kind of leadership six days a week and twice on Sunday over a “polished, nice guy” politician who reads prepared speeches from a teleprompter and answers pre-scripted questions. Finally, I’ll take him any day over any of our politician’s. I’m so proud to have him as My President. I’m confident he will get us back on the course we need to be on to be a strong self reliant country again! Thank you Mr Trump for your love of our country.
He is my President. ❤
Copy and share if you agree. If you don't agree, that's okay, too. We are all entitled to our opinions, and this is mine.

I agree that all this culture war stuff is supremely annoying, and oddly the politicians can't see that it's a huge turn off for most voters, why they are acquiescing to the insane demands of a bunch of zealots, some of whom appear to be borderline perverts is beyond me. I hope that here the Trump administration succeeds in turning back the tide on the Woke mind virus which has seized govts. around the western world, not to mention our public health servies, charities, and many major organisations and corporations.
Alas I fear the rest of his administration will be a nightmare for America, not to mention the rest of the world, like Canada for instance. I'm puzzled why Trump has imposed tariffs on them, can you enlighten me? I get why on China and Mexico, although I don't agree with it, but I can see why, but Canada? He is playing fast and loose with cutting aid around the world, this could have serious consequences for people in dire need, though I haven't looked into any detail as to the specific cuts he made, it may not be all bad. USAID for instance is seem by some as a tool of American Imperialism, which is a bit odd, because of the Imperialist overtures Trump has been making towards Greenland and Canada, though the latter in jest I'm sure.
These are very early days for the administration, I fear chaos ahead for the welfare dependent in America, with the promised radical cuts to state spending, and of course those dependent on free healthcare, if such a thing exists in America, I'm not sure.
Hesgeth is gonna be interesting as Def. sec., some say he's out of his depth, we'll see when the international appearances start coming. American foreign policy to me has often been a bloody (literally) mess, causing more harm than good, what is Hesgeth's outlook?

Now, since you are much more of an expert on the US Constitution and how our government works, why don't you quote from The US Constitution and/or any decision handed down from SCOTUS that declares that any action made by President Trump thus far in his second term is indeed unconstitutional. We'll wait. Mind you, we're not looking for another one of your irrational character assassination rants, slur fests backed up by nothing and pissing in the wind but something substantive. As I said,
DOGE hasn’t been approved through Congress,
it’s creation doesn’t adhere to what’s required by the Constitution, or Law, therefore is Unconstitutional and Illegal.
An Executive Order doesn’t override the Constitution, in fact, is beholden to it.
The U.S. Supreme Court has held that all executive orders from the president of the United States must be supported by the Constitution,
whether from a clause granting specific power, or by Congress delegating such to the executive branch.
Specifically, such orders must be rooted in Article II of the US Constitution or enacted by the Congress in statutes.

We'll see whether Trump's exec. orders are constitutional or not soon enough. With these constitutional matters aside, is Trump's program good for America or not? Why for instance is Trump imposing tariffs on Canada? And why is this a good idea? I'll wait.
This excerpt from Paul Krugman on tariffs - "I think you have to see “fentanyl” in this context as the equivalent of “weapons of mass destruction in the runup to the invasion of Iraq. It’s not the real reason; Canada isn’t even a major source of fentanyl. It’s just a plausible-sounding reason for a president to do what he wanted to do for other reasons — George W. Bush wanted a splendid little war, Donald Trump just wants to impose tariffs and assert dominance." (https://paulkrugman.substack.com/p/the-end-of-north-america?r=i894e&utm_medium=ios&triedRedirect=true)
Here's a few paragraphs from historian Timothy Snyder's latest newsletter.
Trump’s tariffs (which are also likely illegal) are there to make us poor. Trump’s attacks on America’s closest friends, countries such as Canada and Denmark, are there to make enemies of countries where constitutionalism works and people are prosperous. As their country is destroyed, Americans must be denied the idea that anything else is possible.
Deportations are a spectacle to turn Americans against one another, to make us afraid, and to get us to see pain and camps as normal. They also create busy-work for law enforcement, locating the “criminals” in workplaces across the country, as the crime of the century takes place at the very center of power.
The best people in American federal law enforcement, national security, and national intelligence are being fired. The reasons given for this are DEI and trumpwashing the past. Of course, if you fire everyone who was concerned in some way with the investigations of January 6th or of Russia, that will be much or even most of the FBI. Those are bad reasons, but the reality is worse: the aim is lawlessness: to get the police and the patriots out of the way.
Approved by Congress, if it’s not it fails the first test?
Trump just cant do what he likes, assume it’s legal till decided otherwise.
That’s semanantics, and dangerous too.
Thats what he’s done with DOGE,
Chicken and egg,
it can’t be Constitutional unless created in line with the Rules, but “technically” not illegal till SCOTUS says it is?
Dangerous stuff, especially with Trump.
To be permissible and have legal effect, an executive order must be rooted in one of the president’s powers as outlined in the Constitution or in a law passed by Congress.
Executive Order for DOGE satisfies neither of these.

It isn't semantics, it's how their system of government works. The Supreme Court has declared executive orders as unconstitutional in the past. The President does not need to get prior approval of the Court or Congress to issue an executive order. Constitutionality is decided after the fact.

Indeed, I mean just look at the photo they use in his profile oni Twitter, this is an administration of pain, of revenge, of hurt, and little else. They're literally gutting the country of officials who in any way might pose a threat to their program, the military, the FBI, CIA, USAID, all the top law enforcement officials. The common person won't notice these things at first, but the US is heading towards autocracy, and quickly.

At this point that's still all conjecture since nothing of that has happened. This isn't the first time that these things have been attempted. I don't think it's likely that Trump will succeed where others have failed. He does have the advantage of lessons learned from his previous term and the four year interval to plan a strategy based on that. So maybe he could get some things done.
None of this escapes the fact that this was what was voted for. Democracy in action.
Regarding tariffs there's no question that a lot of Americans voted for Trump as they are tired of seeing their jobs go overseas. USA has the resources to be self-sufficient in almost everything. Whether the reality will match the plan I don't know. It seems unlikely to me but then Trump becoming President was so unlikely that it was a joke on the Simpsons. And yet here he is for a second time.

Is the exposure of USAID funds to the BBC those that go to BCC Media Action Charity or something else? USAID has been sending funds to the charity for many years, pretty sure they did so under the last Trump administration. Perfectly reasonable for Governments to review budgets/spending just not sure funding BBC is a new revelation if it relates to the BBC MAC.

Reasonable question. My very quick reasonable answer. (Keep in mind, I have friends in and from Cardiff, Wales, London, etc. I don't hate Brits. We're talking governments and thieves.)
Why is USAID sending any money overseas when US citizens get wiped out in hurricanes, mud slides, "wild" fires, etc. and they are offered a 700-750 dollar LOAN??? ***if*** they apply for it and still with the possibility of being turned down... when US citizens own tax dollars fund these agencies???
Just another reason why the Trump administration was not only voted in but will be hailed as heroes and why (little wonder) those laundering the money and taking kickbacks are the ones in the streets crying foul. We followed the money. Now, we're pissed. No quarter. Let the 4D chess continue.

Great question
Also:
The Washington Post reports (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/02/06/trump-usaid-money-american-farms/) that shuttering the agency entirely "threatens billions of dollars the agency spends on American businesses and organizations."
In particular, the Post report notes that American farms are responsible for roughly 41 percent of all food aid provided by the agency and it adds that the U.S. government bought $2.1 billion in food aid from American farmers in the year 2020 alone

Ok. Will US tax dollars be used to help Americans suffering from natural disasters?
I'll admit to being neither American, nor a fan of Trump. But, I am interested in a balanced view and understanding how the American people will benefit from the so-called money train being derailed.

Time is telling. Not everyone is listening.
Much of America finds the changes in the last few weeks unbelievable, revelatory, long overdue and amazing.
Those of us here who read the writing on the wall years ago and haven't relied much on foreign sourced foods but rather locally sourced meats and locally grown produce (including from our own gardens) haven't been affected nearly as much by the exorbitant food prices.

* Grocery price?
* Gas price?
* Mortgage / Loan rate?
• Accommodation cost?
* Healthcare?
• Entertainment costs?
• Appliance costs?
• Car prices?
* Education?
The above should provide good indicators of the impacts of Trump’s policies. He even promised to lower the cost of living from day one.

Diversity - Equality - Inclusion
What’s next you wonder?
Well, Americas about to find out.
Most of the extreme right wing Conservative manifesto Project 2025 players are installed in Government now, including its Co-Author Trump installed to run the US’ Budget.
Project 2025?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025
A Manifesto wish list of right-wing policies, reflecting an extreme white Christian nationalist ideology that calls for:
- Eliminating protections (and even recognition) for LGBTQ people
- Enabling Mass Deportation
- Attacking Reproductive Rights
- Attacking Education
- Politicising all aspects of Government at all levels, forcing all Agencies to serve the Presidents political aims and not the Public interest. (I.e. No checks and balances from separate Branches of Gov)
- Expanding harmful Digital Surveillance and control over the Media and Press.
If any of this sounds …Historically familiar... ask yourself why
Does all this crazy sound like what America stands for, it’s ideals, It’s History, it’s struggle… ?
Patriots swear an Oath to protect the Constitution, to resist Enemies both foreign AND Domestic. That’s America’s STRENGTH.
The line between these Enemies and the power of the Oath is blurred with the current Administration.
Given Musk’s dark smoke and mirrors with DOGE, Federal Judges pushing back against Trumps unconstitutional Executive Orders being labelled “enemies of the People”….
Does it sound like that Oath is being upheld?

...copy / paste...
Did you say "copy / paste"? Okay...
Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes
will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.
When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice;
when the wicked rule, the people groan.
A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father,
but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
By justice a king gives a country stability,
but those who are greedy for[a] bribes tear it down.
Those who flatter their neighbors
are spreading nets for their feet.
Evildoers are snared by their own sin,
but the righteous shout for joy and are glad.
The righteous care about justice for the poor,
but the wicked have no such concern.
Mockers stir up a city,
but the wise turn away anger.
If a wise person goes to court with a fool,
the fool rages and scoffs, and there is no peace.
The bloodthirsty hate a person of integrity
and seek to kill the upright.
Fools give full vent to their rage,
but the wise bring calm in the end.
If a ruler listens to lies,
all his officials become wicked.
The poor and the oppressor have this in common:
The Lord gives sight to the eyes of both.
If a king judges the poor with fairness,
his throne will be established forever.
A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom,
but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.
When the wicked thrive, so does sin,
but the righteous will see their downfall.
Discipline your children, and they will give you peace;
they will bring you the delights you desire.
Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.
Servants cannot be corrected by mere words;
though they understand, they will not respond.
Do you see someone who speaks in haste?
There is more hope for a fool than for them.
A servant pampered from youth
will turn out to be insolent.
An angry person stirs up conflict,
and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.
Pride brings a person low,
but the lowly in spirit gain honor.
The accomplices of thieves are their own enemies;
they are put under oath and dare not testify.
Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
Many seek an audience with a ruler,
but it is from the Lord that one gets justice.
The righteous detest the dishonest;
the wicked detest the upright.
Explain this Proverb and I'll consider answering your "questions".
Berni217

Did you say "copy / paste"? Okay...
…
“Explain this Proverb and I'll consider answering your "questions".
A lot of proverbs from the bible …
Explanation is below …
* Righteousness and wisdom are central to stability, prosperity, and joy.
* Bad choices, immorality, and corruption lead to personal and societal downfall.
* Humility, discipline, and fairness are important qualities to cultivate in both individuals and leaders.
* Trust in God is presented as a source of security, while fear of others can lead to harmful choices.
I like these, which are very appropriate to your President:
>> The impact of lying on leadership: “If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked.”
Leaders who tolerate lies or deception enable corruption and wickedness in their leadership. Integrity in leadership ensures a just and honest society
>> Good leadership brings joy, bad leadership brings suffering: “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.”
This reflects the importance of having good leaders—leaders who are just, wise, and moral. When the wrong people are in charge, it negatively impacts everyone, causing suffering and sorrow.
>> Justice leads to stability: “By justice, a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.”
A fair, just ruler creates a stable society, while corrupt rulers who accept bribes bring instability and destruction. Justice is key to social order.
>> Flattery can be dangerous: “Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet.”
This suggests that excessive flattery can trap people into deceitful or harmful situations. It can be a way of manipulating others for selfish gain, which is ultimately harmful.
Can you answer my questions?
Elon Musk’s and his merry DOGE crew are now defunding NASA
As a non elected Government "Special Contractor" he doesn't need to park his own ongoing business interests.

A summary of the recent telecon between Putin and the POTUS:
"Congratulations Comrade Trump".
The Vice President JD Vance spoke at the Munich Security Conference just there.
He tried the MAGA Schtick with European leaders and they weren’t having it.
Tried to whip up division in Europe (I.e. weakening the alliance) by saying amongst other stuff that the threat to Europe wasn’t From China or Russia, but from the “Enemy Within” and that Europe must step up in a big way to provide for its own defence.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g9nmeyzkjo
Needless to say he did nothing other than to piss EU Countries off with his fake bluster, happily Europeans ain’t buying what the US is selling.
The US under Trump is no longer a trusted Ally.
Europe will step up, this is significant I think.

This looks a lot more like fascism to me than some meaningless tweet on social media...
The UK has some troubling stuff going on as well, a slow creep to… something, unless it’s stopped.
Disgusted to see it.
Seems mostly down to changes in law passed by Fear-mongers in the previous Tory Government.
Some of the Peoples protections were stripped away under the guise of right wing rhetoric “immigrants eating our grandchildren” or whatever.
Not convinced Starmer is doing enough to reverse the more damaging ones sadly.
But staying on topic:
Right Wing ideology seems to be taking root again around the world for some reason.
That slow boiling frog thing again…people get complacent.
Happily:
us Brits only failed to blow up Parliament in 1605
None of this stuff:
https://i.imgur.com/FdDehmz.jpeg
Words matter
Who says them, how and where… matters
Trump put out this meaningless Tweet on Social Media on January 6th, for example.
https://i.imgur.com/LWs9fUf.jpeg
He clearly knew there were people in that crowd (whom he whipped up at a previous rally) who were ready and intended to be violent, and he certainly did nothing to discourage that.
He not only did nothing to discourage it, he strongly hinted it should happen.
In fact,
A post Jan 6th Select Subcomittee hearing in Washington investigating the January 6th events concluded that Trumps Tweets and his statements at a previous Rally DID incite the attack in the Capitol that day.
Several of the people arrested that day, the more gullible MAGA types, were quoted as saying Trump told them to do this.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-55640437
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-62140410
So yeah,
Words matter.
Social Media and controlling the Narrative can have a significant impact on real world events, and has done.
Ever wonder why Elon Musk paid 44 Billion dollars to buy Twitter?
Look where he is and what he’s doing now.
it’s Dangerous stuff,
that relies on people’s willingness to accept what they are being told and not question the official line.
It sounds familiar because it’s been done before.

anyway,
Just a thought.
What has improved in working/middle class daily life since Trump took office?
Even if he is intending to do anything worthwhile, and even if he could (both of which I doubt) he's only been in office four weeks so it seems a bit unfair to be asking that already.
Maybe give it a year, at the very least.

I'm really not seeing that anything much has happened as of yet. Like for example, in a post above you say he's 'defunding NASA' but all that's happened so far is they have said DOGE will be reviewing the NASA budget along with all the other Federal spending. They've barely even started that.
Has his China tariff even come into effect yet? He's put off all the other ones he threatened.
As far as his first term goes you could have asked that question then, but there's been covid and a 4 year Democrat term in between now, so it's a bit late in the day for that.
You'd think from the experience they got from the first term they may have learned how to do some work-arounds of the system and actually accomplish some of their goals this time but it's way too early to say yet.
Oh it’s happening.
Thousands of Civil Servant government workers have been laid off.
Entire Government Departments have been dissolved.
Tens of thousands of people removed, families separated and sent to other countries.
It’s all out there and being reported.
My Take?
Trumps first term he didn’t even want to win, just raise his profile.
He did some illegal and dodgy shit whilst President, which he was Indicted for.
14th Amendment of Constitution should have prohibited him from running again, but hey, this is Trump and his minions.
He put enough Judges in the supreme Court and Justice Department during his first Term to run the clock for 4 years and hold off prosecution…
And reran with Elon Musk’s social Media influence behind him to win in debatable circumstances…
to keep him out of Jail.
Everyone’s a winner, quid pro quo.
And we are now where we are.
Bigger players are working here, behind Trump, this is very different.
My gut tells me somethings very rotten in the State of America and it’s coming to a head during Trumps presidency.
We shall see, very happy to be wrong.
Oh it’s happening.

.
Bearing in mind a lot of the stuff on the internet is either exaggerated or just made up. I can't find anything confirming that he has dissolved any government departments. He's said he might, but that's not the same thing. I can't find anything about layoffs, either. He says he will get rid of all DEI related roles in the Federal government, but that's another thing that doesn't seem to have started yet. (Personally I think we should do that in this country too so even if that does happen I don't think it a bad thing ).
Deportations - some may be forgiven for thinking this is a new thing thought up by Trump, but in fact the U.S has always deported large numbers of illegal immigrants under every previous administration:
Biden carried out deportations as well, with 271,000 immigrants deported to 192 countries in fiscal year 2024.
In total, Biden carried out 1.5 million deportations in his four years, according to figures by the Migration Policy Institute. That is around the same that was carried out under Trump's first term.
That number is lower than deportations carried out under Barack Obama's first term, which added up to a total of 2.9 million.

Ah.
Its Musk, not Trump.
He has autonomy to run DOGE as he sees fit, and that's the problem.

You are spinning the story a bit there. It was 50 probationary employees in clerical roles, not 'nuclear weapons experts'. There's 2600 employees in the NNSA.

Hmm, you are one of the three monkeys and I claim my £5.
Trump/Musk cock up (https://news.sky.com/story/trump-administration-trying-to-un-fire-nuclear-safety-workers-13310543)
Uhm, no.
The 50 people in Clerical roles you speak of come from the Energy Department’s Loan Programs Office, as per FORTUNE reporting:
https://fortune.com/2025/02/14/doge-firings-nuclear-weapons-specialists-energy-department-layoffs-nnsa-elon-musk/
(https://fortune.com/2025/02/14/doge-firings-nuclear-weapons-specialists-energy-department-layoffs-nnsa-elon-musk/)
Only CNN reports "less than 50 people" and that figure comes from a rebute of the total from a DOE spokesperson.
https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/14/climate/nuclear-nnsa-firings-trump/index.html
(https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/14/climate/nuclear-nnsa-firings-trump/index.html)
(Of course they would say that... reporting everywhere else backs up the figure of at least 300 NNSA staff being let go)
FORTUNE quotes
"between 300 and 400 NNSA workers terminated"
https://fortune.com/2025/02/14/doge-firings-nuclear-weapons-specialists-energy-department-layoffs-nnsa-elon-musk/
NPR quotes:
"Officials were given hours to fire hundreds of employees"
"The terminations were part of a broader group of dismissals at the Department of Energy, where reportedly more than a thousand federal workers were terminated."
https://www.npr.org/2025/02/14/nx-s1-5298190/nuclear-agency-trump-firings-nnsa
NEWSWEEK quotes:
"Around 300 staff members at the NNSA were told on Thursday that they were being fired as part of ongoing plans to reduce federal spending"
https://www.newsweek.com/trump-nuclear-safety-staff-fired-rescinded-contact-2031874
Also: (In the same article)"
DOGE, which is headed by tech billionaire Musk, was established on January 20 as part of Trump's plan to "dismantle" government bureaucracy and reduce federal spending.
Since then, several departments have been gutted, with nearly 10,000 federal workers laid off so far, Reuters reported."
Finally,
(and thank God I'm losing the will to live here)
REUTERS are more specific,
"Some 325 workers have been let go from the department's National Nuclear Security Administration, which manages the U.S. nuclear weapons fleet and works to secure radiological materials around the world, two of the sources said."
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/sweeping-us-energy-department-layoffs-hit-nuclear-security-loans-office-sources-2025-02-14/
So not 50 probationary employees in clerical roles after all.
Think what you want Man,
but I'd hope its obvious I dont just make shit up.
Would appreciate you dialing back the comments? Cheers.
Oh,
Breaking news just in:
https://media.tenor.com/psjIfFq97O8AAAAe/kentucky-fried-movie-im-not-wearing-any-pants.png
Another one from SKY NEWS
"Some 325 essential nuclear security workers at the NNSA, which manages the US nuclear weapons stockpile, were let go, according to the Reuters news agency."
https://news.sky.com/story/trump-administration-trying-to-un-fire-nuclear-safety-workers-13310543
Anyhoo,
The original point stands - DOGE have fired essential (and continue to fire) essential Government Employees because of Elon Blofeld's unchecked grand master Plan.
And that is a bit rubbish.

Trump Admin is already taking a pop at Scotland and the UK, and Farage and his Ilk are following Trumps lead and poisoning British Politics.
And that affects us all.
Of course with Trump 99% of it is performative BS, but its not just him is it, and he holds the power.
Also, as a Dad I care about the world my family will inherit.

I don't usually fact-check everything I see posted and I'm really not that interested, but the claim that they had sacked 50 'Nuclear weapons experts' by mistake and then couldn't find them to hire them back intrigued me and also seemed a bit unlikely to me - especially the bit about not being able to find them, since they would have detailed records of such staff - and with a bit of checking it is clear that indeed that did not happen.
It is reported as happening on a couple of sites so I'm not accusing anyone of making something up. I just wondered if it was really true.

Well, I think the phrase was quoted in the Ridley Scott film, Napoleon. Can’t believe Trump dreamt it up all on his own.
Trump is far too unimaginative to have originated the quotation. - he simply appropriated it.
Although attributed to Napoleon, there is no definative source confirming its exact origin in any of his writings or speeches.
The phrase Celui qui sauve sa patrie ne viole aucun loi appears in Maximes et Pensées de Napoleon, collection by Honoré de Balzac, published on the behalf of Jean-Louis Gaudy.

Of course, 100%, but taking Putin’s side to the degree he appears to have is far too much capitulation in my view - as well of course the blatant untruths we have come to expect…

Yeah, when dealing with the school bully waving a big stick, do you:
(a) Show him the size of your stick
(b) hand over your lunch money
(c) give him your mate's lunch money.
He seems to be choosing option (c), but that's just my uninformed view.
Lets just imagine the unlikely scenario of the US and Russia getting into it, should we step up as US's allies, or should Starmer tell Putin he can have Alaska, but without consulting Trump?
I'm just hoping Trump has a cunning plan to meet up with Putin, then at some point follow him to the bogs and give him a right good hiding. Now that's a You Tube video I'd pay good money to see. And if it went the other way (Putin might be a hard little bastard, they always say it's the little ones you have to watch out for), that would still make enjoyable viewing :)

I heard that Crimea (which has been suffering droughts for ever) was supplied with water from Ukraine via a pipeline, until 2014 when Ukraine turned off the tap. Perhps Putin could have that turned back on, but only if he says pretty please with sugar on top.

Trump has been spouting utter nonsense about Ukraine, like that they started the war, that Zelensky's approval rating is 4%, may be he has the early symptoms of dementia? Saying that I am not completely sceptical about his ability to help bring this war to a close, but what sort of peace that will mean for Ukraine God knows. This is certainly an interesting moment. The far right and far left seem to be supportive of Trump's foreign policy, let's see if the Left are still so hot on him when and if he really starts to crack down at home, it's very early days yet, we're only weeks in. I for one saw elements of Ukraine just being another proxy war for America, though I'm not completely made up either way, Nato's eastward expansion and the ousting of Yanukovych spooked Putin so he had to move to take Crimea to protect Russia's Black sea fleet, on the other hand, he's an autocrat who should have been disallowed to run as president again about a decade ago. But you know what America's like, cagey bastards foreign policy wise. It's more than a bit mad that the US now has a bunch of amateurs heading major departments, how this will pan out is anyone's guess, and that Kash Patel guy as head of FBI, dear God, he wrote a freaking kids book about 'King Trump' or something, God help America!

Well Dmytro,
I feel pretty dang great about it.
S.C.R.E.W. Zelensky and his hooker boots. The blood of "his" own people are on his hands.
Biolabs
Money Laundering
Sex Trafficking
Etc. etc.
...but Dmytro, I haven't spent all this time swallowing globalist dictates.
Tell you what. If other nations want to go toe to toe with Putin, how 'bout they do so with their own money and their own sons and daughters.
If the killing and horror is so bad... WHY ARE EUROPEAN LEADERS NOT STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE? WHY HAVEN'T THEY... FOR YEARS?? Balzac's not big enough??
Much less chance of hurting yourself punching with someone else's fist. Shaming someone whose aim is peace through strength while promoting peace through continued bloodshed is quite telling.
Don't like how Trump/Hegseth are handling it... ...have your leaders do it better.
No? Can they not put and end to it (or even initiate peace) or maybe they don't want to (because they are profiting off of it)?
You are quite wrong, again. NOT all Americans stood with you, not even close (but again you would know that if you had boots on the ground in the US instead of ingesting media garbage, you probably think Americans were all for DEI, CRT and the chemical castration and mutilation of children because their pre-teen self "just knew" they were born in the wrong body). No. Many Americans thought is was a damn stupid thing to begin with and are still pissed about BILLIONS of their hard-earned tax dollars being used by a fool (Biden) administration to prop up a war you couldn't win in an effort to conceal globalist/deep state ill dealings. We are, in fact, pissed about it and will not tolerate financing such a crap exercise any longer. Hence... Trump, Hegseth, RFK, Jr., Gabbard, etc. AND soon Patel.
Wanna talk about burying brothers. How many times have Americans sacrificed their lives for their European brothers; having their bodies shipped back stateside??? Enough. Don't care. How many Americans were put six feet under in America because of wide open borders and a government that ignored the security needs of it's own citizens? A government that couldn't be bothered about it's own people while it gave it's people's own money, again, to your doomed effort?
I'll say it, again.
S.C.R.E.W. Zelensky. S.C.R.E.W. the "war". S.C.R.E.W. the whole globalist scheme of profiteering off of conflict.
You want Putin, "the monster", un-alived. DO IT YOURSELF. WITH YOUR OWN MONEY. AND WITH YOUR OWN MEN (although that really hasn't worked out for you so far). What, again, is the definition of insanity? (rhetorical question)
Yes Dmytro, I feel pretty dang great about it. And furthermore, do not care if you are offended.

He seems to forget that the reason Lithuania was subject to Russian control for all those years was because the U.S threw them and the other Baltic states, and Poland, East Germany, Yugoslavia, Romania and Hungary 'under the bus' by appeasing Stalin at the end of WW2. Geopolitics is never simple.

Exactly, what Trump is doing is appeasement, pure and simple.
Now Trump is claiming Ukraine started the war, and that as recompense for the aid the US has given them, he wants sole trading rights to half of Ukraine's untapped mineral deposits.

That's all very apple pie, but the thing is Nato's eastward expansion has caused the very thing it was supposed to deter; Russia wasn't a revanchist power back in the early 00s, and it was very convenient for Nato (read America) to give in to the ex Soviet states paranoid fears about a resurgent Russian empire. Yes Putin is an autocrat who doesn't want his people to notice that nearby states have the freedom to choose their leaders, but I don't believe that was the trigger that made him decide to invade Ukraine. In 2014 with Yanukovych gone it was fear of losing basing rights for the Black sea fleet at Sevastopol, can you imagine i similar scenario in the US or any other Nato state?

You often trot out this theory about NATO's 'eastward expansion' but do you really think Putin is worried that NATO would ever attack Russia?
All the NATO members would have to agree to such an action. It would never happen and there's no way Putin thinks it would.
I actually don't know the real reason he attacked Ukraine. There's no question that action went very badly for Russia and I think the only reason he hasn't called it off is he would lose face. I suspect the Trump plan is to offer him some sort of 'out' that would avoid that. Can't see Ukraine agreeing to give anything up though.
One thing to remember about Trump is that he's a businessman and going into a negotiation with excessive or even ridiculous demands is common practice. It means you have plenty of room to row back to a position that's acceptable. It's brinkmanship, but it often works. He's not the first politician to do that, can think of a few. One of them's Hitler, ofc...

But people are saying that Trump is giving too much to Putin at this opening stage, I don't get your brinkmanship point, surely should be the other way around? Regarding Nato expansion, yes I think Putin would have seen it as a threat, just think about it, from Poland, the Balts, down to Romania, not inc. of course Belarus or Ukr., it's quite easy to see how he would find that a threat. Even so he only reacted in 2014 when Ukraine - the largest old Soviet state lost Yanukovych and potentially the basing rights for the Black sea fleet, if Ukraine were to join the EU, Nato membership usually follows, that is an incredible threat to Russia, can you imagine Nato ships in Sevastopol replacing Russian ones? Come on, see things from the Russian side.

The brinkmanship is aimed at Zelensky, not Putin. No peace will happen if Ukraine won't agree to at least small concessions.
I don't see any way in which Russia could view NATO as a threat. There's no such thing as 'NATO ships'. It's a defensive alliance of independent states. Not a power in its own right.

But regarding Nato expansion, you completely fail to see things from the Russian POV. Defensive alliance, what is that? Just pedantics. Like the ministry of defence, used to be called the ministry of war. Also how independent are those Nato states when as the last few weeks have shown are almost completely dependent on the US?

Good quote from TS. Most people who read his quotes do not realize he is speaking about them. I've got favorite quotes, myself.
[For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires. So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.]

[Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’]

[The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise!f Amen.
For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless.
Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them.]

[As Jesus spoke these things, many believed in Him. So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
“We are Abraham’s descendants,” they answered. “We have never been slaves to anyone. How can You say we will be set free?”
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
I know you are Abraham’s descendants, but you are trying to kill Me because My word has no place within you. I speak of what I have seen in the presence of the Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
“Abraham is our father,” they replied.
“If you were children of Abraham,” said Jesus, “you would do the works of Abraham. But now you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham never did such a thing. You are doing the works of your father.”
“We are not illegitimate children,” they declared. “Our only Father is God Himself.”
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on My own, but He sent Me.
Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you are unable to accept My message. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me!
Which of you can prove Me guilty of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me? Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.]

The title of this thread is confusing to me. “Too big to rig” is presumably a reference to the size of the vote and the margin. As Biden received more votes and enjoyed a bigger margin of victory in 2020, I just wonder why that one was apparently not “too big to rig” according to Trump and many of his supporters.

Read this on Twitter today from Financial Times head of foreign affairs, Gideon Rachman, it brought home how serious is the threat Trump poses to America.

"With loyalists now in place at the top of the military, the FBI and the CIA, Trump knows he has people in place who will follow orders. Even if they are illegal or unconstitutional."
Also another of Trump's team performing Nazi salutes - this time Bannon - this is almost unreal, these fuchers are sick in the head.
Let’s not forget that Johnson, Truss and Farage have all actively sought to help Trump get elected. I look at the current polling levels for Reform and I despair.
Given all the factors currently at play it seems a bit “shock and awe” the speed it’s all happening?
Hard to believe but it’s only been a month and Trump has already hit the Let’s force Ukraine to give up to Russia and we carve up half their resources stage.

Elon Musk has direct ties to Russia as well, now floating the idea of removing his Starlink satellite network in Ukraine if Zelensky doesn’t sign the Russia/Trump peace deal.
The rest of his motley crew… well, they are in it for what they can get for themselves.
So assuming Trumps no Lex Luthor/ Bond villain level genius and there’s a network of enablers behind him implementing all these changes, some points to note:
- It seems VERY co-ordinated between a lot of different parties. Who’s running this?
- It’s been very effective so far
- A lot of decision making doesn’t make any sense (firing long term experts and putting in Trump loyalists?)
- The Media is playing a HUGE part in selling the “Message” with those pushing back being attacked:
.The Associated Press (Est.1864 operating 235 News Bureaus out 94 countries) banned from Whitehouse Press Pool for refusing to acknowledge “The Gulf of America” not Mexico
.Other News outlets being removed and Right wing Trump supporting outlets like Breitbart been given access - WH Press Conferences are VERY different now.
- Everything so far aligns with Project 2025 stated aims
- Trumps appeasement/ taking the knee to Putin (going back years and significantly in his 1st Term: see the Helsinki meeting with Putin)
Also:
When you consider the current carving out of:
- Long term Military high level staff, and replacement with dangerously unqualified Trump people?
- New Pentagon Head and alcoholic Peter Hegseth has fired top Lawyers in Airforce Army and Navy (JAG) calling for a new “Warrior Ethos”
- Departments that give Oversight to the Executive branch being gutted?
- Trumps attempts to play fast ‘n loose with the Constitution, even trying to get away with ripping up its fundamentals (eg Citizen Birthright)?
Not to mention the ongoing transfer of Dollars under the unconstitutional (and seemingly unaccountable) DOGE ran by Musk
Wheres the money going? How is it being monitored and audited, and by whom?

Trump now absolving Putin of responsibility for invading Ukraine (See what you made him do Ukraine? :steam:) and voted NO alongside Russia in UN Resolution condemning Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.
https://apnews.com/article/un-russia-ukraine-war-resolution-trump-zelenskyy-cde221e5850196776525403e788c272c
Happily the resolution went through, this is a first step to... something.
The US now stands beside Russia, Belarus and North Korea and Israel against Ukraine.
Europe and the UN are waking up to the danger Trump poses, wish America would do.
Signs are there though?
The UN has been voting against that war for three years and it's accomplished nothing, as usual. At least Trump seems to be actively trying to do something to end it.
Ultimately if he can get Putin to agree to end it with a few concessions from Ukraine to save his face, then it's all back on the Ukrainians and if they don't want that, then the war continues. I can't see how Trump's peace effort makes anything worse.
Have to say some of his schtick is quite amusing:
Trump hosted a formal dinner at the White House for governors from around the country who were in Washington for a meeting of the National Governors Association.
He said he’d give a tour of the Lincoln Bedroom after the meal to anyone who wished to see it.
“I think maybe it’s like the most important room in the whole country,” he said. “The most important bedroom definitely.”

Ultimately if he can get Putin to agree to end it with a few concessions from Ukraineto save his face, then it's all back on the Ukrainians and if they don't want that, then the war continues. I can't see how Trump's peace effort makes anything worse.Have to say some of his schtick is quite amusing:
Trump hosted a formal dinner at the White House for governors from around the country who were in Washington for a meeting of the National Governors Association.
He said he’d give a tour of the Lincoln Bedroom after the meal to anyone who wished to see it.
“I think maybe it’s like the most important room in the whole country,” he said. “The most important bedroom definitely.”

Not sure what the parallel to Chamberlain is?
This time there's already a war that Trump claims he is trying to end. If he fails it doesn't get any worse.

Well that's not true if he withdraws military support from Ukraine and withdraws sanctions on Russia to 'try and get an end to the war', is it?
Trump has destroyed trust in NATO, and that makes us all less safe.

he's destroyed trust in Trump, that's not the same. And there wasn't much if any of that to start with.
He's only around for four years, NATO been going for 75 years, I don't think it's a long term concern.
Military support for Ukraine - my bet is he won't pull it. He's playing both sides against the other - pretty standard US foreign policy since WW2. Trumps just more brazen about it.
I'll wait on that one until he actually does do it. Seems to be a lot of talk on this thread about what he's going to do, or what he might do, and not much on what he actually has done.

One dimensional way to think.
Ok, I'll try to be clearer.
Some Historical context:
- In September 1938, Chamberlain met with Hitler in Munich.
The two leaders agreed that Germany would not make further demands for land in Europe in exchange for Hitler having the Sudetenland.
- Chamberlain returned to London and declared “Peace for our time”.
- However, Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia the next day.
- In March 1939, German troops took over the rest of Czechoslovakia.
- In September 1939, Chamberlain declared war on Germany after the invasion of Poland.
If Trump keeps appeasing Russia, Putin wont stop at Ukraine, next stop probably the Baltic States.
Like with Adolf Hitler at the time, Putin needs stopped, and appeasement is a terrible idea.
Putin cannot be trusted.
Or do you think He can be?
Whats happening here is very serious, and the guy with the biggest stick is a compromised Fool and will do anything to evade justice.
Anything. Including throwing the whole of Europe under the bus (and provoke more War)
But hey...
If you don’t see the parallels here and just think “Trump is funny… cool” I don’t know what to say man.
*EDIT*
And Trump has done eff all, except destabilise the American economy and bring grief to working Americans
AND
aided and abetted Russia's aims toward Ukraine.
He's a danger to security in Europe, but of course Putin wants that...
While Trump spews nonsense:
"Trump: People are saying it was the best month for a president in our country's history. I hope that's right. I feel it's right. We've done a lot of things in a short period of time"
All the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic 8 are in Ukraine today.
European leaders are taking the threat seriously.

As a student of history I have to say no, I don't see much of a parallel.
Putin is more akin to Stalin then he is to Hitler. Stalin was shrewd, he was a gangster who worked his way up. Hitler, on the other hand, was a bona fide nutter from day one.
Obviously Putin cannot be 'trusted' so don't trust him. If you're doing your geopolitics based on trust then your going to end up doing badly.
Russian army was in poor shape before the Ukraine invasion and is even worse now. Putin was lied to by his generals, a number of them have gone against the wall as a result.
I think he would like nothing better than to extricate himself from the debacle but his position means he cannot unilaterally disengage without having to resign in shame.
If he does get a way out he will take it and it will be a long time before he engages in further military expeditions against anyone. Rebuilding the Russian army from a conscript force lacking training, equipment, elan, esprit de corps and morale into something competent will take a long time and a lot of money. It won't happen in his lifetime.
None of this is comparable to the 1939 situation where the Germans already had an air force and armoured capability the equal of its opponents, good communications, advanced tactics and high levels of morale and esprit de corps and a civilian population that was broadly in support. Plus a leader who was going to have the war he wanted come what may.
This is why I don't see giving Putin an 'out' from Ukraine to be anywhere close to letting Hitler have the Sudetenland; although I agree that on the face of it, it does seem to be similar, the background situation is totally different.
Disagree with your given reasons,
but we're all entitled to our own take on things.
I dont jump to conclusions why anyone else has there opinions (apart from when its obvious nuttery) and maybe thats not a bad thing.
Appeasement to Dictators, historically, never works out well.
In Putins case I hope your right, but dont share your faith in the situation.

I don't have faith in anything, we can only speculate based on the known facts. Russia's current military and economic situation is dire, I don't think anyone disputes that?
Ok,
I'll call it misguided point of view then. :D
Russia have surprised everyone by how shit they are milliatarily, sure.
Watch what happens if America pulls their support though?
Russia will.advance, and Trump knows this.
He's got his eye on the Prize now, Ukraine's resources.

I said on the first day of the invasion that if the Russians didn't achieve their objective in the first two weeks then the war would drag on forever.
It was no surprise to anyone in the 'community' that the Russian military was in a bad state going in to the war.
We are back again to 'if' he pulls support, 'if' he doe this, 'if' he does that. You think Trump is in Putin's pocket and is only trying to get a win for Russia? Then why does he not just pull the support now?
