I am wondering why you say 'dark' ?

I think I Bought the CD I have of this about twenty five years ago there is also a live version conducted by Haitink, EMI boxsets annoy me they have so little information on the sleeves

Lol... Because large chunks of it remind me of 'effects music' you'd hear in horror movies, just before something terrible happens!

    Enjoy the Mahler

    Effects from horror movies.
    Close enough!
RVW's 7th symphony (Sinfonia Antartica) was written initially as a soundtrack to the 1948 film 'Scott of the Antarctic' and was later transformed into the symphony.
So it is indeed dark and tragic at times film music! ... They all died.
    But you probably knew that.

    ______

Contemporary classical music - played by an ensemble of flutes! Not very appealing at all, in principle, but this turned out to be very enjoyable!

Interesting stuff, Jerry. It was certainly rather bleak in parts, but I like bleak!

More 'obscurities', eh? Exploring off the beaten track is often how you find the hidden gems!
