She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949). directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne, Victor McLaglen and Joanne Dru. Wayne wasnt initially Fords idea of the part until he saw him in Red River. The rest is history. McLaglen as per usual steals most of the scenes.

Of Kings and Prophets - ABC on demand Sky Boxsets.
An odd one this, a sort of Biblical Game of Thrones. I am not sure who this is aimed at, GOT fans, Christians, Jews ? No idea. If you look at it as a dramatisation of the Books of Samuel its somewhat of a miss because there is too much here that isn't in those books, too much secular thinking, taking away from the Biblical.
Taking it as a GOT typed drama, it works mostly, but for me the deviations, additions and David being way older than he should have been circa the early parts of the story is a big detraction. Worth a watch though if you have Sky.
The series has 9, 42 min episodes and has been cancelled.

Well I watched first episode of The Wire.... To say I am not impressed would be putting it mildly! A glance at some reviews though reveals that it's infamous for taking ages to "get in to"... One review reckoned most either give up after the first couple of episodes or go on to find it amazing... little in between. If it wasn't for that I would not bother watching the second episode never mind anything beyond that... Unfathomable plot ("plot" is term I use loosely here as it seemed to be missing one entirely), American street slang as impenetrable as drunk weegies, police talking like "get a 402 on the FGT and put me a RRY in after the 335".... EH!?

Yes, I know. It's very "dense" and you feel a bit intimidated by its closed-in intensity at first. My son got me the boxed sets and issued the same caveat, saying I needed to stick with it for the first three episodes, even if I didn't feel like it (some present!). Anyway, I did, and I was glad I did. It opens out into a fantastic drama, with some of the best and most complex characters I remember seeing on screen: Stringer Bell, Omar, Bubbles - terrific, memorable characters in superb performances. Think of it as not so much a police/crime drama, as a portrait of a city (thanks, King Crimson!) - in this case Baltimore, from a different angle in each series. Series 1, from the street; Series 2, from the unionized dockside labourers, Series 3, from the Town Hall, 4 from the schools and 5 from the newspaper media. Don't be tempted to take them out of order, though! Oh, and it helps if you put the subtitles on - pretend you're watching a Scandi-drama.Well I watched first episode of The Wire....
