Time Team
Digging up a Roman villa in the Cotswolds. They find a mosaic floor but it turns out Christians had vandalised it years before. No wonder they used to feed them to the lions.
Followed by 'Horizon' about hair. Some young bloke (who has a very full head of hair) is morbidly worried about his receding temples. 'It's the big problem in my life' he says.
Next week they will be investing why youth is wasted on the young.
Current Lash Up:
TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > Troels Gravesen Faital 3WC-15.
The Yangtse Incident (1957) stars Richard Todd and Bill Hartnell. Bernard Cribbins made his film debut too. Super film about the Chinese People's Liberation Army attacking HMS Amethyst.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

(Syfy HD - Just had new telly delivered so breaking my own rules about watching tv through the day)
Not a bad film. There is a series of books by John Birmingham about an incident when half of a modern naval task force ends up back in WW2 just after Pearl Harbour. Axis of Time trilogy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_B...m#Axis_of_Time

I've just finished watching the entire series of "House MD" which I thought probably the best TV I've ever watched in many ways! Highly recommended!
What next is my question? I've never seen an episode of "The west wing"... I watched the first series of "breaking bad" a couple of years ago and that seemed good so could be an option....
Any recommendations folks?
Still working through M.A.S.H, with a long way to go!

"The Wire" is very good indeed. All six (I think) serieses, but do tackle them in numerical order. "Breaking Bad" is meant to be excellent too - it's next on my list. My kids also rave over "House of Cards" (the US version, not the UK one). I would add "The Killing" esp series 1. Have fun!

Jez,
Yer in for a treat.
West Wing's awesome, huge fan, love it..especially when Alan Alda (Mash) get's involved.
Breaking Bad gets better, better then EVEN better.
Best series I've probably seen is The Wire?
Probably the best TV ever written imo, closeley followed by 'Oz'.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118421/
HBO at its best...Shown once back on Channel 4 in the wee hours of the morning...its brutal adult drama.
The Wire:
Examination of the American law enforcement 'ecosystem'...each series examines a different aspect.
Quality seeps out of it, Shakespearean in scope...genuinely gripping and 'gotta know what happens next' feckin' amazing.
Letting go and relaxing
is the most ‘in control’ thing you can do
