That's what I use, though it's not often that I actually have to use it!

Anyway a superb acquisition Martin, and definitely one that deserves a bottle of good wine to celebrate your good fortune. Always good to hear when a music lover comes close to finding their ideal system, and can thereafter just settle down to enjoy the music. I have 'been there' for a few years now, but because of my fascination with the whole vinyl playing mechanism, I'm likely to be dabbling a little longer with cartidges and arms.

I think it's usual for Krell amps to exceed their spec in terms of power delivery.
I owned an original KSA50 for quite a while and I recall seeing a technical review which measured it as 90wpc.
Similarly for my KAV250a (which Justin and I loved with my MBLs, a rather forward nature notwithstanding) - rated at 250wpc, measured at 330wpc.

I'd imagine the KSA50S is similarly under-specced.

Thanks lads but I am still a long way from end game. The system is now an enormous mullet. Allowing for inflation it is now £12K worth of amps and speakers being driven by a £400 Sony CD player. Oops.

I did swap my Parasound in, which is a bit higher end, but it has a bit of roughness to it that us now ruthlessly exposed. So I have a smooth Sony in but....you can easily tell it is a budget player. It is a SACD job so is smooth sounding and makes the system relaxing to listen to, which I like, but it doesn't have the clarity of the Parasound. I really don't want to buy any more CD players so am thinking about getting a DAC.

It is a real old game with amps and speaker matching. When I put the original KSA 50 with an Air Tight passive on my Duettas, it just sucked enormously. Flat soundstage, useless and undynamic sound. My 211s just killed it for dead.

However, the KSA 50 with an Audio Research LS26 was almost dream good on the Mark & Daniels. The ARC giving a great sense of space and imagery.

WRT to a DAC, Martin, try and borrow a Jolida Glass FX. In stock form at version II I could live with one and did for a very short while. It's good.
