Can't be my amplification since that is textbook. But, I have heard speaker cable make a difference in the past so I suppose that is worth a try. As you say, if it works the bassy stuff will get bassier - that will be interesting.

Thought you'd established the problem is the speakers? I wasn't knocking your amps. I meant that since the speakers have a more brightly lit balance than you like, if you want to enjoy them then something else in the chain will need to be swapped for summit a bit fatter sounding, if cables don't sort it. Easier to swap an amp than both sources. The over exuberant treble will make them sound bass light, that's my issue, except the treble is coming from my amps, not the speakers. Bet that at the end of a song where the bass and drums finish with a thud there's plenty of bass(because there's no treble to compare bass proportion to). Hope that makes sense, sounds like a load of tosh when I read it back but it's hard to put into words

Thing is John I'm a box swapper, I buy stuff I fancy trying, it stays until I see something else at which point it gets sold or more usually gets put to one side. I didn't expect these JM Lab to tick all my boxes, I just liked the look of them, the price was reasonable, they were within collecting distance and I fancied a go of them. Just fancied a modern speaker again after a run of vintage.

The amplification I settled on a while ago since it is sweet, clean and will drive any speaker I swap in without having to worry about compatibility. I could do better on the power amp front, but would be a lot of money for a little gain I think.

Sometimes I swap CD players. but I have too many of them so I've stopped buying them and concentrated on speakers. Now I have too many of them.

So I'm not overly concerned about getting a 'finished system', I love my music but I love trying different kit to reproduce it too. And getting it as right as possible, getting the best out of what there is to work with.

Anyway that was a complete ramble. To summarise: SQ is very good - ten grand dealer system level - I'm a fussy basterd - listening to Fun Lovin Crminals now - kicks ass.
