    Thumbs up Heads up - Superb value Amarone at Lidl..!

    Guys and gals,

    Lidl have some superb Amarone red wine in just now for an amazing £12.99 a bottle, see here (price shown in Euros, but it's the same): https://www.discounter-archiv.de/Ama...L_p1311735.php

    This is top quality Amarone that would normally sell for around £25 a bottle in an independent wine merchants. Big-boned, weighty, full-bodied and packed with juicy blackcurrant fruits, it's the ideal accompanyment to a nice rib of beef, or goose for Christmas day... Hurry now while stocks last!!

    Turntable: Heavily-modified Technics SL-1210MK5G [Mike New bearing/ETP platter/Paul Hynes SR7 PSU & regulator mods]. Funk Firm APM Achromat with Nagaoka GL-601 Crystal Record Weight.     Mmm... That's disappointing, guys. There's tons of it here in the Wrexham branch. You are looking in the 'special promotions' area of the store, which is located in the middle aisles, and not in the general wine section, which is where wines like that are found?

    Also, if you can't see the Amarone, ask a member of staff, and they will either show you where it is or advise on when it's coming in.

    Anyway, having brought it nicely up to room temperature in front of the wood stove, Snapper and I are about to settle down to a few nips of this:

    That's where it'll be, if the store's stocking it. The 'specials' are always put into a separate section from the rest of the wine

    Above all though, don't give up without speaking to a member of staff first......

    And yes, The 15yr old Balvenie is superb! The sherry cask imparts a lovely 'biscuity richness'. Yum, yum.
