That's what I thought too. Must have cost about a tenner for the lot.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

They look a bit of a bargain!
You'll find these are not HiFi speakers, we sold similar "Tone Cabinets" at JVC and they were for use with our Electronic Organs. The TM5 has an electronic tremelo to emulate the sound of a Leslie speaker.

That's interesting Paul. Makes sense to me as the layout of the drivers is odd to say the least.

Maybe for once the "Rare item" BS in the ebay description is Right
but the "Works Worldwide" ??????? so most DACs are like DVDs and only work in certain regions

Must make sure any DAC I buy is Midlands and Yorkshire compatible but what if I move to Wales or Scotland

    David,

Some of the rarer high end units from the top Japanese manufacturers, were not intended for export and were 100v only. Some more were made 120v for the US market and a separate 240v UK model and 220V one was to European spec. It was far more expensive to put in a multi tap transformer, so unless the item was of high value and intended for world wide distribution, they were not used. Also, with some turntables, cassette decks and other components with AC motors, the 50Hz or 60Hz mains frequency is an issue. Don't worry though, you can get Swiss army knives with an attachment for getting your foot out of your mouth

Fidelity Research FRT-3 SUT at a sane price. It's in Japan.

There's little that comes close to these for the money. I've had three, they are very open and musical and have worked well with every low output MC I've tried.

Asking prices have been creeping towards £400 lately, so this one is cheap!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
