This thread was started by Andy (abc1337)

I think it's particularly pertinent at the moment on The AoS because there is one thread in particular that's currently running, where the word 'accurate' is being used quite a lot.

It's important to have a readily updated frame of reference to what real music played by real instruments actually sounds like.
Because, actually guys, it's quite easy to forget
You can forget what a din a real drumkit can make - so much that it hurts.
You can lose touch of the fact that some real instruments played by competant professionals can sound uncomfortably bright and downright in your face - so much so that it's uncomfortable.
You can also forget how a sensitively played instrument can convey incredibly complex emotions with just one note.
    Real music.....................

    So …………What do you play?

A shameless plug for one of my threads this week - I try to pick stuff that I've not been too involved with, but this time I'm breaking that rule.
No-one posted anything in reply to my original post - unusual on AOS (maybe there's a good reason for that, but what do I know?).
Anyway, shame on you! Here's your chance. Not only that, but if you do as I suggest you might get a snog out of it..............read on:

This week's subject to be dragged kicking & screaming back to life is a double header - Internet Radio.

    Paul (Spendorman) posted this:
    Internet Radio

A while later, Brian came up with a great list of stations:

    Good threads to resuscitate Chris.

A good point of conclusion to Brian's thread is that a nice chap over on the Slim Devices forum came up with a nice bit of program to permit Squeezebox users to access the AAC+ streams from Squeezecenter/Squeezebox Server.

Users of Squeezebox Server 7.4 onwards can instal the iPlayer plugin which will automatically bring in the AAC+ streams - the Beeb is getting to sound better and better on t'interweb.

This week when I was raking over the mouldy stuff, I came across this one: It's from Richard (Gromit) - Thread No. 414 from April 2008

The thread kind of ended up being cast off into the murky waters of thread drift-dom, but the original idea was a good 'un. It would be good to see how the original contributors think about things now.

It's interesting as there are some parallels to recent discussions.

Now that we're hearing the first whispers of the MAD cable spagetti bun fight I thought that a bit more on the subject might be of interest to some. But apologies if it just tips some folks over the edge.

So, this thread was from sastusbulbas - Thread No. 1604 from just before Christmas last year:

OK folks, get yer shovels & picks out again - it's time to do a little more scratching around in the AoS vaults.

Valve experiences (1976 to 1987) The golden years? Err no, not necessarily!
Thread number 796 from July 2008

This one is fascinating (as were many of Howard Popeck's threads). It's an overview of Howard's experiences with various brands of valve amplifiers during his time in the trade between when they were almost an absolute joke in some circles to just before the started to be widely accepted as a viable alternative to solid state.
