Internet Radio

I am interested to know how people are finding Internet Radio for content and audio quality. Is there a way of easily seeking out the better stations?

Thanks, that looks useful, didn't realise that there were so many UK Stations. I listen to some good French and Itallian music stations. Some include video as well. The difference between radio and TV is getting muddled these days with the internet. I am not sying this is a bad thing at all though.

Anyone got any comments about audio quality on the internet. Generally it is poor, but there are some occasional pleasant surprises.

There are supposed to be 10,000 Internet Radio Stations, the USA has 100 Classical alone and Broadcasts from Switzerland, Prague, Budapest and others often use 256K for their transmissions which mean they are much better than our own Terrestrial offerings that are 128K MP2 at best.

Stick and M-Audio 2496 in your PC, plug it into your hi fi and it'll prove to be the best £50 you've spent in years, and while you're at it you make sure your CD player is as good. Many aren't.

And its sounds perfectly acceptable at 24K because they don't play anything recorded much later than about 1935. It's great fun and music you do not ordinarily have the opportunity to hear.

John will correct me if I'm wrong but I think Record sales were at their highest ever then and not exceeded by the Beatles etc in the Sixties. CD gave declining record sales a bit of a lift but it was a temporary one.

I reckon they were about 140 million pa in 1927, dropping to about 6 million pa after the Wall St crash and the depression of the early thirties. Things soon picked up and in the latter '30's and 40's dance bands, films, and popular music all boomed again. It was only by comparison with the constrained '50's that the Beatles seemed so huge in the sixties. Rock and Roll also separated the generations from about 1958 onwards, leading to the invention of the "teenager" and separate popular music for them.

Aha! some response to my post on interenet radio, come on Guys lets have some more recommendations, comments. I agree that some of the foriegn offerings are of much better audio quality.
