NEBO 6 set for November 2015

I wholly agree with everything that's been said the two highlights for me were Ali's slagel pre and Gordon's linkwitz speakers sublime I also had a soft spot for riches jbl's beautifully finished I also noted a slight lack of mid range the jbl's might benefit from being on taller stands the eddies were fantastic as normal but the suprise of the night was kens proton power amp quality watts there and those mission 752 did a stonking job real boogie speakers once the insurance sorts me out I will be giving ken a tinkle to relieve him of that proton.i must also thank Steve from the bottom of my heart for his kind gesture he knows what I mean also it would have been nice to hear those linkwitz on a vinyl front end on a funny note Stevens camel tracks were definetly giving everyone the hump although snow goose ain't that bad all in all nebo cheered me up big style thanks again Steve hopefully next nebo I'll have some kit to bring ps nobody's mentioned kens linear tracking deck gorgeous

Well, what can i say? NEBO 6 was certainly one of the most interesting of all the events thus far. I am always humbled that informed and innovative enthusiasts, designers, engineers travel many many miles to attend a none commercial, small scale event such as NEBO. I am merely the organiser and pilot of NEBO it's the people who attend that make it what it has become and for that i doth my cap. At first i was a little concerned as there didn't seem to be the usual attendance though as the day went on it picked up a little. It was great to meet some new faces and as always meet up with the regulars.



As can already be seen here on AOS Macca has written a great review further bolstered by Marco pretty much echoing my thoughts exactly. I just thought i would add a few further observations on the day. I thought The Schooner despite the usual compromises with large function type rooms for audio demonstrations had a lot of plus points. I would appreciate some feedback on this matter gents.



Colin Topps got the ball rolling nicely i thought demonstrating his stand mounted Nordge speakers. I really enjoyed the Nils Lofgren track he played first. I have to admit to being a little impatient at this point as i was really wanting to revisit his Edingdale speakers i first heard at Owston Hall last year. Alas, i had to wait until a little later in the afternoon but when i did get to hear them i liked what i heard. As well as the systems mentioned in the Macca and Marco's reveiews i was impressed with the NVA A40 power amps. Highly musical devises to say the least.
The Pioneer PL71 really is a no nonsense design and i bask in it's simplicity. As pointed out i have a stock Denon DL103 in the sharp end as i now believe that all the bullshit written about the metal/onyx/ceramic cases for them is just that.
I was a little disappointed that we had to shelve the Phono stage bake off due to mine developing a fault in the right hand channel. However, watch this space!
I really enjoyed the final lash up with Mik Rik's lovely Radford power amp driving the Edingdales. I thought my specialist music sounded bloody great through it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day though as the evening drew to a close the Guiness and Caffrey's started to take it's toll on my middle aged liver made worse by the corned beef pie on the bar. This i fear may be the cause of a Sunday plagued by oesophagitis. A massive thanks to everyone who came. Fabulous to mix it up with the Scottish mafia, great blokes every one of them.



Oddly enough, there is a pair of Edingdales that look identical to these standing in my cave this afternoon. Now how did they get there?

Well then.....this was my very first bake off, (a virgin no longer), and all I can say is thanks for a great day. Met some pretty knowledgeable chaps there and I finally got to listen to a pair of Yamaha NSM 1000's, impressive. Thanks for all the time and physical effort you put in to show off your gear.......when's the next one? cheers Vince.

Glad everything went well for the event, it is a pity the mains power was not up to the task. in the case of the LDR although its
external supply is 12V AC dropping to what would be just 9VAC ( given mains was 180v vs 240 ) would result in its internal
regulator dropping out and current regulator stages similarly having very difficult and different values, and less than ideal performance.

I wish New Zealand had a similar event... one day. Glad everyone had lots of fun.
