Great Expectations (1946) Starring John Mills(Sir), Bernard Miles(Sir), Valerie Hobson, Francis L. Sullivan and Findlay Currie as Magwitch. David Lean(Sir) and Ronald Neames'(CBE) adaption for the screen of this Dickens classic and directed by Lean himself. Still the best by far of the versions

Agree it is by far the best I've seen but there must be 20 versions or something close. The Muppets should do one.
Anyway just watched 'Prometheus'. Part of my policy is to avoid buying more DVDs and just wait for films to come on TV. So I'm 2 years behind.
This is set in the Alien universe - and who doesn't like the Alien universe? But is only tenuously connected to the other films. Not bad, some good twists and turns and Charlize whatshername is hot doing a sort of 'Seven Of Nine' bit. There is something about a woman armed with a flamethrower...not sure what it is.

Just finished watching this fabulous film. One of the best war films I have seen, and a very touching finale. Clint made a few good films in his day both as an actor and as a director, but this is his finest work, and a superb acting by Bradley Cooper playing the lead role of Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle

Black Sea (2014) starring Jude Law. looks promising so far. DVD
EDIT: It was a decent film although fairly predictable, in storyline and ending I'd say. Fairly cheaply made too in modern terms at a guess. Worth a watch, but doubt I will rewatch in a hurry.
