Mod your Beresford 7520

Hi Dave,
Yes I have put the 2132's in both positions but may experiment a bit with one 2132 and one 4562. I dont possess a pair of headphones so havent tried the headphone output (maybe on my xmas list though....)
The MCL 5/6 mod is not difficult but you need sharp nosed wire cutters to get to the right capacitors nestled amongst other gubbins (thats a technical term). You only need to cut the wire so the bits stay in place and could be soldered back if need be I think. I used toe nail clippers but dont tell Leo or Stan.

The Mod takes 5 minutes Dave, take your time and its easy peasy.

Makes a BIG difference to clarity. vocal projection (as Jerry says) and up till getting the 7520 "caiminised", was by far the best upgrade to the sound I'd tried.

It really IS a no brainer.

I have had the 2132 op-amps installed in my caimanised 7520 for a week or two now and think its the best I have heard from the various op-amps tried.
Lovely soungstaging and a crisp deep bass with the MCL 5/6 mod but the thing I really like is the way voices are projected. A cliche I know but they seem to be in the room with you. I really dont think I want to try the 36K mod.
Leo-please try it again with the 36K removed and see what you think. Its such a cheap upgrade too.

The OPA2132 strikes me as one of those chips that's not perfect, like maybe a little bit lacking in detail, higher frequencies could be just a wee bit brighter, but it's very close with its full frequency response and dynamics, percussive engagements and sounds so nice that it just wants to engage you. If the OPA2132 could speak, it would say "Sit down, stay awhile."

I'm actually getting quite discouraged to try another opamp. What with the break in time etc. I'd just like to sit down and enjoy.
