Funny how a massive pricetag can lead people to believe that everything on it MUST be very special indeed.

Either that new platter cost loads or he was so generous that he spent £50,000 on each turntable he gave to his friends!
For either £50,000 or £100,000 I could rent a space, hire/buy equipment and dedicate a whole year to designing and making a turntable whilst still paying myself a good year's salary on top! And then come away with both a great turntable, a whole brainful of new knowledge and loads of new skills to boot. I could probably even get some of the work done for me and just put my feet up.
