think I would take a risk on these if I lived locally. Could do with some 70's speakers for my set up.

Don't know them, but all the octagonal Philips units like that seemed to me to be pretty good. Not much of a risk at that price.

Philips speakers tend to be good, although that hard dome tweeter was not one of their best efforts. It works, but is a bit 'sizzly'. The speakers should be OK as a whole though.

I didn't mention the possibly slightly sizzly tweeter, as at this price, not really important. Might have tamed a bit after all these years!

You may like them and at the 'buy it now' price you can't really go wrong, but the Pageants will be superior.

i'll pass then mate,could you recommend a few speakers to look out for that would be a definite inprovement over the pageants please.
im getting drawn to ditton 44's but they are too big for my living room, how about ditton 33's ?
