I'm martin.
Just changed upsampling to 32 bit 384khz and this is the best digital sound I've ever listened to (i don't do digital If i can help it). the files are flac from normal cds. Without upsampling, the sound is just average. I'm surprised no one else has commented on this.

Tried this for the first time tonight. Much more detailed and you can clearly hear more deeply into the mix.
Now onto the software players;-
Tried Volumio first. It is buggy and I was getting drops in playback over the network which I was starting to suspect the network.
Moved onto Rune Audio second. This is the largest programme and it's slow to navigate. Plus I was getting drops in playback lasting 7 to 8 seconds. You also have to enable the DAC board in Linux, not for the faint heart.
Thirdly tried Moode available from tcmods.org. This is my favourite and the one I am staying with. There are frequent updates and the album art. It's fast, snappy and no network drops. BBC radio streams coming soon. So I rate them;-
1 Moode
2 Volumio
3 Rune Audio.

Stephen
Yes, resampling seems to work well. Moode is also my fav out of the MPD based players...

So ... got all the bits today, installed Volumio but have a couple of problems. I can connect through a browser ONLY if I use the IP address, connecting to volumio.local doesn't work?
Bigger problem though is I can't figure out how to add my music library. It's held on a HP microserver running WHS V1. I've set the folder as a share (and I can connect to it from my windows box), I've set the Volumio mount as SMB/CIFS, IP address of my server, remote directory as music/flac but I get a mount error 22. help!

Krisbee - re picoreplayer - thanks for the info. I do have the latest pi so I'll see if I can find an up sample command in there somewhere...

It would be great for usability if the writers of Moode, Volumio etc actually provided a way of upgrading their players without having to flipping' well down load the whole sodding image and flashing it again!Oh and set it all back up!
