Prior to my last post regarding power supplies for the Pi.

I have just put this together and sound quality has improved over the stock smps.
There seems a more natural relaxed quality to the sound so probably worth doing, for a cost of around £30.



LM350 regulators were used instead of the LM317's for their higher current rating.

Unless it's a tiny OS it will need to stay on the SD card and boot from that. Picoreplayer is only one I've found small enough to fit in the Pi's RAM. Take a SD card Marco and get it written on that.

Quick plea for help as I'm struggling a bit. I have all my hardware built up (R Pi, Digi+ board, NAS running), and the software downloaded to my Mac ready to go, but need some technical help to:

1) flash a disk image to my SD card so the R Pi can use it to boot up (I got quite far with this but got scared I'd flash over the Mac hard drive, do didn't click the final button)
2) get the R Pi connecting to my BT wireless hub and pointing at the NAS (according to Duncan, Volumio has its own music server app, no need to run anything on the NAS - just point to a folder - but I have no suitable display, nothing in the house is HDMI, and I'm not really up on command lines these days)
3) get the controller app on my iPad pointing at the R Pi - though I can probably just about manage this bit.

Anyone in local to Sandhurst/Camberley (S/E Berks, N Hant, west Surrey) able to help out over the bank hol?

Tom which app did you use to "nearly flash" the SD card?

1) Pi Filler 1.3 http://ivanx.com/raspberrypi/ is simple to use.
2) I had to use pUtty on Windows for this to do it headless not sure what the best bet is on Mac as I'm using network plugs to connect to the Pi. I'll search later but not sure if there is any way other than SSH if you have no TV with HDMI.
3) Typing "Volumio.local" in your Safari browser on the iPad will find the volumio on the Pi for you (no exclamation marks).

(Though it stil shows an empty progress bar 'Writing SD-card ... this might take a long time' which never moves no matter how long you leave it. The only option is to click quit and the message says 'permission denied'

The image I have loaded on the Mac that I'm trying to flash is Volumio1.55PI.img

Having said that I haven't a clue what to do after that to get into a GUI, I assume I have to find some way to get the R Pi to access the network (by adding the network password) before I can see it on the browser? I tried the IP sniffer app on that link but it didn't find anything (I guess that may change once the RPi has an operating system to boot up with, after the SD card is inserted!). So until I can get a disk image I seem to be stuffed.

Hi, go to
https://volumio.org/get-started, scroll down to "Flash It", then select Mac OS. There you will find instructions on how to flash the Volumio image on a Mac. You could also use the PiWriter app. There is a link to it on that same page. hope this helps.

Just to point out that after successfully flashing your sd-card,the https://volumio.org/get-started page clearly states your RPi must be connected to your router via an ethernet cable before you can configure the use of wireless USB dongle. Configuration is via web brower.
