That's it.. refuse to put the stereo in the same room as the TV. I have my own back room nicely decorated out all cosy loike, it's small but it my music room i can dissapear to.

Nice one, dude - and quite right! I think that sort of arrangement can be accommodated in most homes, if the will is there from those living in them, especially where no kids are involved.

In terms of the latter, I can see no logical reason why, say, in a 3-bedrooom house, for two adults, where only one room is actively used as a bedroom, that the other two rooms can’t be used as a separate TV and music room - I’m talking about here in houses where a hi-fi/music lover is one of the two adults concerned, and where any spare rooms don’t already have a clearly defined purpose.

You often get the impression in a lot of houses that ‘she who must be obeyed’ gets the house to herself, to do with what she likes, whilst ‘he' does as he’s told - and that’s just not right!

Indeed, I abhor such unfair control-freakery in a relationship.

Indeed. However, what I’d always try and do, if there were enough rooms available, is dedicate one of them to being either a TV room/lounge, and another, a music room, so that if she wants, the good lady of the house/kids can have their space, watching TV, etc, and keep that ugly goggle-box in there, thereby leaving the music room free of such paraphernalia, and of course vice versa, with all the ‘hi-fi shit’, kept out of the TV room/lounge.

I realise of course that that isn’t always possible, but often there is a decent sized spare room, out with of the main lounge, in many houses that doesn’t appear to be used for any specific purpose. As they say, where there’s a will (from all who live in the house), there’s a way!

I certainly agree, I wish I had that extra space, but sadly do not at the moment, so we just co-exist the best we can between music and the telly. We just have one communal space, but it is workable for now!

We made decision already almost 15 years ago to leave TV out of our living room. Of course I was already at the time listening lot of music and had system at our small apartment, but the suggestion actually came from Mrs as we spent lot of time with our friends and noticed that during their visit we were sometimes just watching TV because it was there. So we got rid of TV and had lot of fun having nice discussions, playing board games and listening music etc. After that we've always had the TV somewhere else than in our living room, usually at master bedroom or the upstairs lobby etc and like to still host evenings with friends and everyone seems to like the arrangement (except my dad but that is another story).

Today I still notice the "dull and boring" impact of TV in some friends places and different gettotogethers. People (me included) just start staring the damn thing despite whats on. However when suggesting closing it or getting rid of it I usually get stupid looks

We just don't have a TV at all. We have a large pull down projection screen in the ceiling which is out if the way for most of the day, and it just drops down when we switch on the projector. The blu ray player, and computer are connected into the DAC, and we get great sound through the system when we need it, and nothing taking up space when we don't.

Have been thinking that option also but with the kids it is still easier that the TV is somewhere else

Jesus just imagine in our house where the wife is glued to the TV..I abhor the TV. We be be fighting like cat & dog 24/7. Just imagine wanting the tunes on but have to book it in with the missus! Just imagine wanting a certain Hi-Fi but have to ask the wife if it's her's friendly

Not much happened here since the previous posts despite felt the urge to update few pics

Sonos Connect has been added to the system for the Tidal streaming handling also the Spotify and NAS usage. The Ensemble phonostage has now the manufacturers more or less serious Megaflux FSF powercord, that replaced the older DIY alternative with Furutech sockets. Now during the summer most of the listening has been very cozy backround listening and only few times have done some serious listening..

The Fidelity Research FR-64FX tonearm is here and installed to Micro Seiki with Zu DL-103 cartridge. The first LP I plyed with Micro Seiki was Oliver Nelsons Blues and the abstract truth (it was good!) and the next will be chosen by our son who is having day off from school because flue and yesterdays fever:

- "I want the rock album which has the flying carpet at the cover!"
- "Ok. Kingston Wall it is.."

Congratulation Mika K, Micro SX 111 and FR64FX are among the best. It is now even harder to find the same SX111 like yours in its original market which is Japan. It combine vintage look but produces extremely good sound with quiet background. Have you tried your Dynavector with FR64FX?
