I'm a fan of mid 20th century furniture and design. Have a reproduction eames chair myself. For me it is timeless rather than retro and this room has many elements I love. It's a smart looking space full of interest and a fantastic system to boot.

If I ever get round to creating another room in the loft of our house which means I can have our old bedroom as my listening space, I'll be taking a few design cues from here.

Thanks! In a way the best part is that our decor is not planned or "designed" as all the furniture etc have just somehow drifted to our home or previous places where we have lived and the end results just is what it is. I guess the most thought part is actually the hifi system I'm having..

I was just baking some cupcakes with the kids as Mrs is returning soon home from morning shift and noticed that sun is shining nicely to living room. So one more pic of the Micro Seiki TT, please don't get heart attack due to the dust

Nice one, Mika. Incidentally, how is the Micro-Seiki sounding - specifically, how does it compare, sonically and musically, with the Garrard?

The other thing I like about your room is that there’s no bloody ugly (as sin) TV sat in it! Too many folk have some gawd-awful huge black plastic ‘wide-screen’ TV plonked somewhere in between their speakers, which for me always spoils the look of the room (and system)!

Ha! I knew the dust will push some members off the cliff Unfortunately it's my fault as I'm the one doing most of the dusting here, especially when it comes to my system. I'll try to improve before the next pics..

The Micro Seiki is sounding rather nice! Of course it's pretty difficult to know what comes from where as there are new components to me but still..

Zu DL-103 is sounding surprisingly competent paired with the FR tonearm, much better than it did with the SME V so there definitely is strong synergy there. Especially the midrange is sweet having the dynamics and finesse haven't heard before. Perhaps the bottom end is bit round and lean compared to my other system driven by Garrad 401 but considering the price range for this cart Overall the sound from Micro Seiki is big and relaxed but still very well defined. Definitely high quality combo in many ways. Also surprisingly silent with the backround noise when combined to the A23 SUT and McIntosh MM phono input.

Mika, your room is just so inviting and I am sure a great place to relax and enjoy the tunes. Very nice, even if it isn't "planned".

I agree on the TV thing, it is the one thing that I wish I could banish from my living room-and maybe altogether. But then I suppose I have to give a little too on my part, at least for the audio end's sake!

Indeed. However, what I’d always try and do, if there were enough rooms available, is dedicate one of them to being either a TV room/lounge, and another, a music room, so that if she wants, the good lady of the house/kids can have their space, watching TV, etc, and keep that ugly goggle-box in there, thereby leaving the music room free of such paraphernalia, and of course vice versa, with all the ‘hi-fi shit’, kept out of the TV room/lounge.

I realise of course that that isn’t always possible, but often there is a decent sized spare room, out with of the main lounge, in many houses that doesn’t appear to be used for any specific purpose. As they say, where there’s a will (from all who live in the house), there’s a way!
