9710? Maybe. The driver opening appears to be the size for an 8" driver and the nice old chap who sold them to me said he worked for Phillips at the time the cabinets were made for him (in the sixties I'd guess).Being Philips branded, a 9710m? something from Cabasse or Lowther? Can't be Tannoy, can't it?
Might just be a pair of Wharfedale Super 8 RS DD units though. That'd be nice.

Yes a bit of a result Grant. I'll check the drivers out and then have a listen to them. These are the M/01 version of the 9710 and supposedly the one to have. Rumour has it they are one of the best full range drivers about. We'll see. Takes a lot to convince me.Looks nice... you picked up a goody

Wow. I was expecting lots of colouration and the usual odd phase effects through the mid due to the tweeter cone. Actually it's quite the opposite, they are very clean and tight, with remarkable transparency. Depth portrayal is in the Tannoy class. Amazing. I think these may be 'keepers'. Not bad for £30.
