Why is there STILL no credible alternative to eBay?

(and don't mention Gumtree, that's becoming more controlling and expensive and it's owned by eBay)
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

These have now been listed four times with no takers, probably because they're collection only in St Austell. Good buy if you're in the South-West.

The fees are really absurd at this point, and they are leading to 2 issues here.

    - Sellers are increasing their asked values to silly amounts to compensate for the very expensive fee's (including P&P).
    - Lot's of items not being sold and lots of unprotected parallel offers being made atm, trying to escape both Ebay and Paypal fees

The service is loosing quality, and it's all about the buyers. Sellers are really left unprotected with scammers. I think there's a drop of newly listed items in the overall, and there's also another thing: The present limit for opening a case is 45days (I think) which is silly imho, but Ebay is changing that to 180 days in 2015! Now think about that!!

You sell a CDP, get your money, eventually feedback, and 6 months after you have a open case from the buyer trying to get his money back (and he will succeed) and return the item (probaby not even need to). What in the world are they thinking??!!

i have stopped completely selling on ebay now. it is really a business selling tool now and not what it was meant to be. They dont really want private sellers.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Who said that they want business sellers as well? The rules for business sellers are now not far off from commercial blackmail. They seem designed to let eBay smell of roses, and sellers as swirl.

Well, they are getting loads of money with their present configuration. There's no valid alternative in the realms of an open european market, people are stuck and proud of their several hundred figures feedback and it's hard to start everything somewhere else, for everybody.

But the bastards are pushing the envelope, too many requirements, too many restrictions and too expensive to sell something used and private. As soon there's a alternative they will be smelling something else. That is, until they buy the competition. Again.

I quite agree, I have the butyl rubber surrounds on mine and after comparison. Found them better.
