Thanks Alan - I'm fairly happy with the way things are sounding at the moment, but also have an Exposure XV sat in the wings for occasional use. It's a better amp than the Naim set-up, especially when using vinyl, but I've invested a bit of time (and £) into getting the 42.5/HiCap/110 sounding good so will be keeping it for a while until it inevitably gets moved on.

The turntable's a Sony PS-6750 - quite a good description of it here It's an extremely solid bit of kit (the motor/bearing is huge) and whilst it's not a night-and-day improvement over my previous PL-71 I do prefer it. For less than the price of a used Rega RP3 it's just ridiculous how much good sound you can get.

Sony Ah yes, it looks a quality turntable though, its amazing how we never heard about all those great 70s-80s direct drive turntables in the day
The British HIFI press certainly led us down a merry path didn't they------- Pioneer P3a if only

I like the 42.5/110 its a nice combo, a pair of 110 monos may pip the Exposure which I agree are also excellent amps.

Indeed, Alan - always makes me wonder if the journos of the time were either deaf, or had an agenda. I tend to believe it was the latter.

The Naim set-up is great - and I still really love the old Chrome Bumper look, something rather timeless about it. It is unlikely to remain in my system though as I have other irons in the fire at the moment (basically, I quite fancy a new motorbike, having owned my present one for nearly 8 years) and with the Exposure being a better amp it would seem wise to hold onto that and sell the Naim.

    Gromit,

How are you getting on with your hifi system? Is all the same still?

A couple of changes, notably phonostage & amp...

As I said some time ago, I reallyed enjoyed the 42.5/Hi/110 but it wasn't going to be a longterm relationship. Sonneteer wasn't on my radar at all but thanks to a tip-off by a fellow PFM'er I snapped the Campion up. Of course there will be those who bleat 'oh...the latest greatest thing since the last slice of sliced bread' but this little amp is a peach. Not over-burdened with power admittedly, but musically it's a joy - hey, I may even write a review.

Thanks Brian, and for the pm too.

Very tempting - but will probably hold off for now, much as I'd love to 'go for it'.

Looking good, Richard! Always loved Sonneteer amps - true SPPV champions, and like you say, so enjoyable and musical sounding

Question is, how long will the system stay ‘as is’, and you just kicking back and enjoying the music, because you’re starting to rival ol’ Jezza in the box-swapping stakes!
