Hi Martin,

I can concour with yourself as I saw Goldfrapp last week at Symphony hall Brum where the acoustics are very good indeed and suited her set. It was her first Gig on her tour and she was a bit nervous but great performance and tight band.

Saw Goldfrapp as well but at the Colston Hall, Bristol on 1.4.14 and she was sublime. Brilliant voice, fantastic band and a great, well put together set.

Nokia Concert Hall, Tallinn

New concert hall with good acoustics, about 1200 people.
Full 2.5 hours of Genesis. Like he said "I'm happy that people still want to hear these old songs".

Ian Anderson at Liverpool Phil, Ian is a phenomenon, to write another new album (and very good it is too) at his age and perform as well as he does.
The same line up and format for TAAB 2 where Ian shares some of the vocals with the young actor Ryan O'Donnell also there is a bit of theatre going on.
The new album is only 40 mins long so the second half was a Jethro Tull through the years gig.
Excellent evening, if you like Tull/IA.

Cheltenham Jazz fesival: This was on over the bank holiday weekend, held at the Montpellier Gardens in the town centre. Some great artists playing, a free stage and plenty of food stalls including the Fabulous Baker Boys' Hobbs Bakery stall. Next to the free stage area was a great opportunity to buy some recent vinyl courtesy of Rise records. Loads of families with young children attended. For me, the highlight wasn't so much the headline artists (although they were fabulous) but some of the free bands including a youth swing band. The standard of musicianship from some of these up and coming youngsters was truly exceptional.

An astonishingly good night, full of wit, emotion, superb musicianship and exceptional sound in a world-class 600 seat acoustically designed concert hall from Arup Acoustics. I don't really take pictures or videos at concerts and Milton Court is most definitely not the sort of place it would be encouraged, but I took the above just before the show. Once under-way we had Natalie out front, a 4 piece string section to the right, upright/electric bass, drums, acoustic/electric guitar and piano/accordion.

Natalie treated us to around 130 minutes of pure class with offerings from her catalogue going back to Tiger Lily and 10,000 Maniacs. The room was literally spell bound for the entire show and Natalie's voice often sent shivers down my spine - it is still as haunting and powerful as it ever was. The highlights for me we Ladybird, Giving Up Everything and Lulu from her new album, as well as The Gulf of Araby sung with the writer Katell Keineg and we also had Beloved Wife, Carnival, Wonder, She Devil and she finished with Kind & Generous which was a very fitting end and saw the whole house on its feet. Natalie is really quite a wit too, which I wasn't aware of and also very animated on stage - a truly professional performer and a few lyric mishaps were dealt with admirably a dose of humour.

An outstanding night and this was sold out from the moment it went on sale, but Natalie was concerned that the rear circle stage seats were empty having not been made available for sale. She said lets see if we can open those up for tomorrow night and I just checked and they have gone on sale for only £15.00! Friday night we were at Backstage at the Green Hotel in Kinross to see Kevin Montgomery, good gig but very disappointing turnout even in a small venue, still it gave everyone a chance to chat to Kevin and he changed his intended set to a play it as you feel, recommended if you get a chance to see him near you.
