And from someone with 0 feedback... unbelieveble. How does these average speakers get this kind of money if out of comprehension.

I stand corrected - I thought "Japan Piezo" was a reference to a cartridge. Nonetheless it is a handsome-looking arm.

With the backward pointing outrigger and way-rod, it reminds me of the Macinnes S-220 arm; the two look virtually identical. In fact, it could well be the Syntec was marketed in the UK by Macinnes Laboratories in Suffolk.

I have a review of one in the May 1979 edition of Studio Sound magazine.

    Very nice Quantum Electronics amplifer:

I can vouch for this one personally as it was mine - the seller appears to have re-used my text from when I sold it! Consequently, for "recently given a once-over", this now actually means "about 18 months ago"!

My Sterling LS 3/5a's are probably 20-30 years younger and probably have had less than a quarter use of these but I won't be expecting anywhere near the price these achieved.... it's just crazy. The Sterling version is so much newer and every bit as good, if not better, than all the very old BBC versions...

Yes, except on the Macinnes S-220 arm, the two parts of the counterweight didn't have the 'flats'. Also the transverse balance way-rod is on the right hand side and not the left as shown in the Sparta.

Couldn't quite work them out.. Cabinets look new, tweeters look too clean for the supposed age, the bass units aren't black framed so are probably from some other speaker, yet has the rare plates on the back that one finds on very early versions and early looking crossovers. And a terrible listing to boot..
I don't think the state of the cabinets is any clue. If one owner from new and well looked after, why shouldn't they be mint? The Celestions I sold recently I had for 13 years and the cabs were as perfect as when they first came out of the boxes. And I am sure that if I had them another twenty years they would be just the same. Never subject to direct sunlight, no sticky fingered kids and no wife who insists on putting her bits of clutter on top of the cabs, ya see
