Martin Colloms then went forth, measured and produced results that showed a nicely damped response to a pulse.
What was not obvious was the actual effect that this transformation achieved. But it did sound "good".

I should have referred to the Richard Black review on the PT Anny (I think it was) where direct comparisons with the master were made, the PT sounding all but identical and possibly even slightly better than the copy-master used as a reference. I've long lost the original group? test review...

So, in the final analysis, you've trusted a piece of measurement apparatus over your ears? Is that what you're saying - or do you mean that the results, produced by the test apparatus, merely confirmed what your ears were already telling you?

No, I've made circuit changes for improved performance shown by measurement and then confirmed with listening.

The point I'm making is that ANYONE on AoS, who can convince a dealer/manufacturer that he or she is a serious buyer for any specific product(s), will stand a very good chance of auditioning it (or them) prior to buying, presuming that there is sample stock available of the item(s) concerned.

The fact that Martin sometimes benefits from that privilege is more a testament to the fact that he's known as a serious buyer (and someone with a reasonable disposable income), than his status here as a moderator.
