A standard cable can supply ten amps. Whatever it is you hear its unlikely to be current delivery that is the issue

Guys - this isn't meant to be another long drawn out argument for/against power cables. I've stated my case for a particular product and you can either try out an Ultimate for yourself or go about your business, it doesn't bother me much. I'm not here to try to sell you anything, however this is an enthusiasts' site and I'll wax lyrical if I so choose

Richard - a standard cable can supply 13A. It doesn't necessarily do it with low impedance, however, especially if you start looking at transient edges where Fourier analysis will tell you that there's quite a lot of high frequencies in there. Enough - I don't profess to understand the mechanism by which one power cable sounds better than another, I can simply tell you that this is the best I've heard, and I've heard a lot of cables including some much more expensive ones (which I used to own).

Nope - not on my watch!

Guys, this thread is for Martin and others interested in the new Ultimates to discuss their views/findings. Please keep boring arguments about the usual cable efficacy thing for a separate thread. Cheers!

    Marco.

In fact this was NOT a drawn out mains cable argument until Thing Fish and Oldpinkman rocked up. The discussion was about MCRU's Ultimate III Cable and the suggestion that I beg, borrow or steal one.

Because this thread needed no help from me. It had already descend into the usual sniping and digging about mains cables...

Having performed some extended listening now I shall write up my thoughts into a proper mini-review and place it in Strokes of Genius.

Hey. Cut me some slack. I haven't knocked martins views on this mains cable or started an off thread debate. In response to a measurement discussion the others were having I pointed out an obvious measurement point. And whilst I'm here kettle leads with a notch are rated to 13 amps. Standard iecs for hifi only the 10 amps I quoted. None of which need prevent martin from enjoying what he is hearing.
