Lots of possible variables: spur rather than ring main; fuse box rather than breakers; extensions or mains blocks being used; terrible mains bourn noise or interference etc. Every system is differently comprised and assembled; if Alan hears no difference then that's a valid finding. Which is why we keep saying borrow/try one first if you can.
