Hi guy's, here's a quick pick of my new upgrade. I started the thread using the Arcam drdock but I've now upgraded to the Arcam IR DAC I've had a short listen to it the other day and have to say this bit of kit is stunning I never thought a ipod could sound so good. I've a few more upgrades to add in the next week or so so I'll keep updated

Hi just wondered if anyone could help at the moment I am using the thin standard white cable you see in the pic from my DAC to Ipod. What I was wanting to know can I get a better cable for this, or could I use the coax inputs on the rear of the DAC into a jack plug for the ipod?

Did you already sell the drdock?

If not, suggest you try this. Ipod->drdock->coax cable->irDac

I found using a coax cable helped the sound - it also make for a great place to keep the ipod.

See if it makes a difference - you may find adding a linear power supply could too (on both...)

I'll agree with Stubies on this one. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a suitable cable of audiophile quality to connect you iThingy directly to the irDAC.

Of course, there's always the comfy solution of adding a hidden Airport Express and connecting this via optical to your DAC. You'll then be able to output almost everything wirelessly (is that a word?) from your iThingy
Yes, you will loose some audio quality, but i assure you it'll still sound very good!

Hi Stu thanks for the reply. I still have the dock at the min but I have not tried it as I thought using the ipod direct to the IRDAC would be less connections than using the dock too. I'll give a try though before I sell it. I like the sound of the linear power supply though, I'm quite new to digital due to using a turntable for the past 20 odd years. Do you have any recommendations for a linear power supply?Cheers
