Just to add I've just been looking at a Beresford Caiman Dac, would this connect to my Arcam dock/and Sugden amp?

    Sure would, Jason!
And would probably change the sound a bit too, but i cannot say in which direction...
On the other hand you could muster up an old CD player to use as transport also, and have another option for source!
    Regards, Mike

I have my eye on a few used ones on ebay, the Beresford, the MF old style round one, the Arcam rdac, and the Rega. Anyone used or still using any of these dacs would love to here what you think

I mainly listen to jazz and Zappa.

    Cheers

    Jason.

    Jason,

Great looking system! Very sleek! You did it right!!

I have Cambridge doc connect to the the Bushmaster Dac and am very happy with it.

But if you go that route, wait for the new one - it has a new powersupply that may make linear PSP unnecessary.

How do you like the Neats? Im looking for some replacement speakers that are not harsh/fatiguing.

    Stu
New System (so far): Meridian 506 CD/ALAC -> Unison Research Little Italy -> Spendor S5e
Secondary system: Airport Express -> BeoLab 3 Speakers (still need replacing - too fatiguing)
TV Room: Marantz NR 1504-> Usher S520/525 speakers
Original System: NAD C541 CD Player -> NAD C340 Amp -> lamp cord -> B&W CM2 Speakers, Ipod/Itunes ALAC- secondary source

Hi Stu thanks for the info mate I've nearly sold the neat's quite a few times over the years I've had them but I'm glad I didn't now. There a great pair of speakers and they never sound harsh they just seem to get better every time I upgrade anything in the system. There a top quality speaker build and sound and never fail to impress they fill my room with sound no problem 19ft x 12ft. I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought a pair, I listen to jazz, Zappa, the who, Christopher cross, and they always sound perfect to me

    Default Oxymoron

    Apple and Sugden, an oxymoron!
    Apple and Neat, an oxymoron!
Apple and anything: No no no.

Yes I am a member of the 'anything but Apple' brigade. But maybe I am the moron :-> Presumably you play Apple's lossless format.
I have to say though I just love the simplicity of your system. Everything looks cool, right down to Neat's 'n' logo. Also + 1 on the fab photography - clearly you have more than one channel of artistry. Taste, man, taste!

Thanks Andrei glad you like the system as I say I'm very new to digital so I haven't downloaded the music on the lossless format yet or even sussed out how to do it. But soon as I get a new DAC I hope to learn

The 'Lossless' is code for CD quality. But I think you should go that route to do justice to your amp and speakers. I think the format is ALAC.
