IMHO not worth that much but they bring big kudos in Hong Kong.
Agreed from what i have heard certainly not good SPPV, the same goes for the TL10's, i had my pair fully serviced complete with new old stock Mullards and still found them a bit well "dull" so sold them on, the stereo 20 pisses all over them

The radial ribbing is due to the cone construction. The cones are built up from strips of doped paper/material.

I've heard a pair of the earlier field coil versions in a large open baffle that were paired with radial horns and I was amazed at how fast fast and detailed the bass lines were. They are also quite a large driver at 19".

Well I suppose it's better than scrapping them. I've put new surrounds on speakers with very acceptable results. Those Heybrooks look as though they may have been done right and I suppose it's up to the individual to decide whether they're worth the asking price. Not that I'd pay that much for them myself.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Since when would a bit of recent Chinese electronics be regarded as "vintage"?

Beefy pair of EMI elliptical 8 ohm bass drivers in excellent condition at a good price! Nice.

I have used this driver and they are pretty punchy.

They are scrap now IMO. Problem is whoever did those no doubt feels they did a good job & will probably go on to do more I'm not too bothered when its AR8/AR18's but to ruin something half decent...
