    Good sounding machines those however i cannot take a non moving coil VU machine seriously

    You can use ferric, chrome or metal.

    I like VU meters, but the display is quite attractive being electric blue, and it's fast-acting, more-so than mechanical VUs

    How would you describe the sound if this player?

    Does it have a biasing adjustment on the front?

    No.. The machine is a 2 Head machine with Dolby B/C/HX Pro & DBX..

    I got mine in 1989 Shane and the reason I have kept it is it faithfully reproduces the dynamics and grip of what you feed in. When you use a ferric tape you miss a bit of detail and top-end - but it doesn't really matter as the dynamics are there.

    It has Dolby B and C and DBX noise reduction but I never bother with any. It doesn't have bias adjustment. Not sure if the next model up had it.

    You want the 'RS-B705' for three head & Bias tooning.. I have the matching 'SLP-770' & 'SLP-999' CD players in this late 80's range..
