I have one tucked away in the cupboard. They are going up in price if that is the going rate now. Still good value even so IMHO.
When you say ''the more modern ones'' do you mean the A21a, which is the version from the late 90s? (I think)

    Cheers.

Jason has a modern one in his system

Look and feel lovely, built like a battleship. I found the sound a little warm for my personal taste when I heard one but not bad at all.

£5,600... Half-an-hour and counting - will they beat the previous record of £8,400? And more to the point, why are these 2 pairs going for more than £1,500

Even more to the point, why are they going for more than £200?

Why are they going for more than £500 is my question, since so many weren't good when new and will only have gone worse with the decades!

Let these idiots spend too much money on out of spec crap far removed from an ideal example and smile smugly to ourselves that it's highly likely that you'd get a better sound from a modern £200pr Chinese made speaker and an incomparably better sound from the modern Stirlings or Harbeths (Spendor had their chance and blew it with stodge-boxes, although the SA1 series 2 is better I believe).
I can't go on and I can't go back, I don't feel so matter of fact,
I tried and tried to make good sense, What's the good to try it all again?
