They look cute, Geoff. They look ideal for a bedroom system!

Are the Dynaudio Audience 42 an easy to drive speaker?

I noticed that one of the tweeters is pushed in badly on those Dynaudios

Yes, they are 4 to 6 ohm I believe, Google for spec. Very high quality sound!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

So rare now, B&W DM1 speakers in lovely condition.

A true landmark product, the first proper (British) compact domestic monitor. These brought professional nearfield monitoring sound quality to the domestic market (and many studios). Rated as the best small speaker ever made in their day.

I haven't seen a pair this nice for thirty years!

(by the way, I've just spotted another pair of rare classic compact speakers of the same era that I'm keeping quiet about 'cos I want them. If I get them details will be posted)

The DM1's were a utter bargain, I have 1 pair that I can't get tired of, they do so many things in the right way it's unbelieveble.

Mine have a "rattle" on one of the EMI eliptical drivers, otherwise I'd still be using them - they are indeed superb and surprised a set that nice didn't go for more.

I bet I know what that rattle is, 1 of 2 things:

1 - look "inside" the voice coil and try to shake the speaker itself or the driver only. You probably have something inside the gap in that central aluminium dust cap. Probably a smallish broken piece of plastic.

2 - Rotate the mid/bass driver, you can try to see if there's a broken suspension in the spider and that would smooth things up.

Go and try this, they are fantastic!
