Well spotted. These are very nice sounding speakers. AR6 bass units, Audax cone mid and HF2000 tweeters if I recall.

Be serious. What kind of nut pays this sort of money for a dust arm, never mind it's a Michell. They're bad for the sound anyway!

The D5 is rare, especially in that kind of condition. They are seldom seen for sale.

I've owned them and the DM4. They are totally different and the D5 is the cleaner sounding and smoother of the two. Unlike the DM4, the D5 is a smaller sealed cabinet speaker and the drive units are different too. The D5 was B&Ws first proper 'bookshelf' speaker and they put some effort into getting it right (the little DM1 was about the same size, but originally aimed at the professional market as a small monitor).

The DM5 was a slightly later model and larger. Some similarity in drivers though.

The ebay seller's only contribution to info was roughly "these speakers from the 70s sound great".

The rest of it was copied straight from the Canadian sellers ad that he got when Googling the D5. I bet he has no idea if they are rare or not but has parroted that they are because the other ad did..

Another pair on Belgium ebay from sept 2012 says exactly the same thing verbatim "Extremely Rare" - unusual for people to use the exact same language in the title unless all copying from the place. http://www.ebay.com/itm/B-W-D5-SPEAK...-/271066946975

Just the usual annoying hyping up on ebay from people who have no clue (probably bought them at a car boot and googled when they got home) that always makes me type the same old thing on this thread, probably to many yawns

Nice little Theta Cobalt 307 DAC listed at £99, pretty decent sounding unit. Way better than the average budget DAC.

No it's part of my collection, i don't use sweep arms regardless of what they are. The carbonfibre brush fitted to the Pickering Styli i more than good enough.
